from what i read you have to have a covid test within 5 days of travel or they won't let you travel to DR.  You got to have the paper work with you.

if that's not true let me know.

No i read an article

On 28 June 2020, the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) issued the Notam and particular protocols authorizing the reopening of airports in the Dominican Republic.

Only airport and aviation authorities, airport staff and aviation crews and ticketed passengers are allowed to enter the terminals. Passengers who need special assistance or minors may be accompanied. Passengers are recommended to pre-check their flights to avoid agglomerations. Masks are mandatory at all times, there will be temperature controls at arrival.

International arrivals are required to bring a good health declaration, in addition to migration and customs form. The PCR test certificate needs to have been issued with less than five days before they travel. In countries where there are difficulties in getting tested, the visitors will be required to test at the airport before being admitted to the country.

So if you don't have it they just test you at the airport?

Hogwash !!!

DR is damn near a free nation
They’re not fumbling their bag. They’re gonna eat enormously being a open place to visit, let alone being the #1 destination in the America’s or Caribbean whatever

It’s a checklist at best. They can’t operate no covid tests at airports, DR you kidding me , we can’t even operate covid tests 🤣

Quit with the hype and just wait for my report 😁

Whatever happened to... was it big pumpkin? Someone went to SDQ right at the start, no pass port check, never to be heard of again. Who was that? Where did he go?

I think he's referring to DR's Airport Reopening Protocols, which were published a few days ago.

It's a scanned, 19(ish) page .pdf document (with a bunch of handwritten signatures), in Spanish, not translated, that lists all the protocols the airports will follow once they reopen.  I'd have to google it and find it again.

But in regards to this particular subject, all i remember was that i think everyone will have their temperature taken.  If your temp is above 38 degrees Celsius, another certain set of protocols will be activated for you, which i think you will be isolated and be seen by health personnel (or something along those lines).  At that point, maybe they'll perform some sort of test for you?  I don't know...i didn't read the particular protocols that coincide with anybody that shows symptoms.

Well I’m quite sure American Airlines has millions of reasons to keep us updated on any matters concerning this, and the only alerts I have are  that face masks will b required and that I will b asked to certify that I’ve been COVID free for 14 days.   Dunno what they will do on the D.R end but I’m quite sure American would have let us know.

Here is a link to that document

https://www.idac.gob.do/protocolo-para-reactivar-los-servicios-aereos-en-la-republica-dominicana/

It is in Spanish of course.

I might be missing it but I don't see any reference to any requirement for Covid testing in the document but perhaps someone else will see it.

Quite frankly I am not buying the testing requirement as it would seem the airlines would be letting their passengers know about such a requirement if they are supposedly going to allow passengers to fly within the next 10 days.

I think i figured out where this is coming from.
There is a post on DR1 that looks like an official document from the IDAC  it even shows on IDAC letterhead .

The thing is when you go to the IDAC website that particular document doesn't seem to be there in the same wording.

Turns out it is really a post by Dolores Vicioso who is the editor of DR1 and he/she appears to have added the PCR testing wording.

Ah ok.....figured it had to be someone paraphrasing the actual protocols.  Actually, after i sent the above message, i realized i had the link (different link though) saved the entire time. smh.....I already shared it with one of my whatsapp groups.

There's not necessarily a requirement for Covid testing that i saw either.....[I think "Delores" might be fulla shit].  What it says is that every passenger will get their temp checked.  If it's above a certain temp, THEN other measures will take place.....not sure what those other measures are though....could be some type of test, could be something else.

As for the airlines, other than to make sure you wear your mask, and any other safety measures, there's really nothing else regarding the matter that they'd really need to update us on, in my opinion at least.  If you're not showing symptoms, you should be good to go.
