Won’t be long before they’re ran up outta there, DR just taking thier monies. Them Chinese not ready for the real DR shakedowns
So I hear the Chinese are making a serious play in Sosua. They are little by little buying up all of the big spaces that are vacant. The latest move is perhaps the most interesting. They just finalized a deal to lease the old dlatins spot. Willy has officially given the spot up. He realized that the powers that be for the time being are serious about moving everything to the new red light. The Chinese have not been clear on what their intentions are for the space but the word is that they are looking to compete with Bourbon Street, and Rumbas in the nightime restaurant/sports bar space.

I take it uve never been to chinatown in santo domingo...
I was in Costa Rica for vacation last year. Chinese are heavily invested there! Very big Chinatown in San Jose. Chinese restaurants everywhere. They own and operate all of the mini marts. At the country club I played some golf, and tons of Chinese people. I really didn't expect to see that! One of my cab drivers explained the Chinese have invested heavily in roads, infrastructure, even built the national soccer stadium, in exchange for fishing rights.

You must not have heard about fishing at all. Twelve factory trawlers won't make a scratch in the Atlantic fishing industry. There's a hundred times that fishing from Greenland to the Faulkland Islands.
I was literally just standing in front of bourbon street and 10 Asians walked into the old dlatin building. Then they stood outside and looked at all of us. I could literally see the gears in their heads turning. It made me think of this post. I wonder what else they have planned.Black Americans are there number one customers.. They saw all the black faces and said damn, we about to build a gold mine.

@nick@ROTY,
I’m interested to see what they do. Whatever it is I’m almost certain it will be a business catering to African Americans. I’m taking bets on who will be the AA face of their business. They will get with one of the dudes living down there and use them as the front man to get blacks coming through the door.
The Chinese are everywhere in Santo Domingo. They own most of the small shit shops in Santo Domingo that import everything on the cheap. They also sell all of the cheap dresses and shoes that these hoes be running around in. Almost everything cheap in the DR is made from China, so yes...they are heavily invested in the DR.
I don't think the Chinese will have much say with what happens in Sosua though. That will take place in the next election by the citizens of Sosua.
The real question is what kind of changes will take place between then and now.
The one thing that confuses me is that even if you move all of the clubs down the street, a lot of the hotels are back by the current strip. You will still see the chicas in the streets around all the hotels after their last trick and then walking to try to find their next trick.
Will they try to move the hotels too?!?!?
Does the sosua government really think they can turn sosua into a family friendly destination? It’s a small town with no real infrastructure. There are no real attractions. Don’t get me wrong, I understand being a visionary and planning for the future but sosua would need ALOT of work to turn into a legitimate destination for families. I’m not even talking about the prostitution.
No need to speculate, I actually walked across the street and asked for myself. The Chinese across the street from Bourbon Street are not opening a club or restaurant. According to them, and wouldn't think they would have reason to lie is that they are building a superstore. Clothes, shoes, school supplies , etc. Kinda like a cross between a dollar store and forever 21. They signed a 2 year lease.
Two Restaurants, Two SUPER stores in a ONE block Radius.. Guess the STRIP aint going anywhere...
Issue is ..What will the hotels do that are down on the beach end ...Its not like the families are going to magical appear. So they will have to build all new hotels ....I dont understand
I think people will stay in the same places they been staying. When its time to hit the club or go for a drink dudes will just get transportation down to that end of the strip, the same way that villa guys do now.

@bourbon You're 100% correct. People will have to walk their fat, lazy ass to the new red light district or take a motoconcho.
I think I'm going to try and corner the motoconcho market in Sosua. lol
ForbesChinese exploitation of the continent is bad but can NEVER be worse than Leopold's Congo, or Portuguese Luanda or Divide and conquer by Britain and most definitely not worse than policy of assimilation by the French. A big fuck you to the colonizers
