Murano-- appreciate all the insights into the psychology of what is going on!  I think all of these bits of wisdom I have gathered from these posts have put me in a better position for my first trip to Sosua.  Because of this advice, I made some social media contacts.  Plus, I am spending first two days at Oasis now.  I am not looking to rack up big numbers, just a handful of good times.  Now I wont be relying on daily searches in a down time.  Some low-end or mediocre chica says $125 for ST and I can just laugh and wave her on by.
Copy That!

Okay today is Saturday August 1.    Picked up an expat buddy ( in POP ) that lives in Sosua coming in from JFK.   Brother was kinda stressed before he got here.  I tried to encourage him to chill.   He may get tested , he may not.   He had someone put a letter together for him,  indicating he had Covid 19 test, and the results were negative.   Very generic looking form.   It worked, and they let him through without paying it much mind.   Lady immigration officer tried to pass him a note asking for a propina ( I always thought only the male agents did that ).   He ignored her and kept it moving.

One of the 1st people off the plane.   Too bad he never got to see how the testing process went for the randomly picked passengers.

A couple of my regulars have returned to visit Sosua. They’re complaining that there are not a lot of guys in town other than the old guys that are always there (I got a chuckle out of the viejo comment). It appears that the testing threat may have led to a number of guys changing their plans.
I say her observation is correct.   A skeleton crew of mongers showed up in the last couple of weeks.   You are also correct, the testing upon arrival or having to have a test within 5 days of arriving, spooked a lot of guys.   Along with the SOE, the curfew, no night life, , slim pickings of chicas, businesses closing early, not knowing if it's safe dealing with chicas and getting the virus from them.

When is the curfew over? I know there is the 20 days then 25 more if extended but what are the expiration dates?

They plan on reviewing curfew for renewal on 8/9. Fear is they’ll tighten it up from 2 pm to 5 am. Might be wrong, but I don’t see that happening. Dominicans are starting to chaff at the restrictions and on a separate note gyms were given permission to open. I think they’ll go to something like outdoor dining only with bars/discos closed, shutting down everything at 11 pm, and restricting gatherings to 50 folks after 11. What they’re doing now in locking folks up in extremely close quarters for violating curfew is simply generating more covid spread.

Thank Jazzy! I just need things to be good by middle of September, ready to book my trip now!

As Jazzy said.  Around August 9th, the authorities will evaluate the situation with the virus spread,  and determine the course of action from there.    I for one,  have learned to be prepared for them extending the curfew,  not ending it just because we reached a certain date.  So even if it goes the full 45 days of the SOE, a request for an extension can be made by the new administration.     For citizens and those that live here,  were used to that outcome.

Hopefully they wont make it any tighter than it already is.   I almost left the house at 4:15 to go do something, forgetting it was 5pm curfew today.    If they changed the weekend curfew to 7 or 8 I would like that very much.    I reckon that still sucks for guys coming here for vacation.

Thanks Murano for keeping us posted.

Great live reporting Murano! I for one don't know if I can deal with a 5pm curfew on weekends. That would probably be a deal breaker for me....
Understood.  These are unique times.   Nowadays it's like living a real life sci fi futuristic movie,  of the world as we knew it coming to an end and having to adapt to a whole other existence.   Sooner or later were all going to have to adapt and get used to our limitations.

MR.N same here man. I can’t even imagine older cats dealing with all of this...younger guys maybe.

Murano, what is the beach situation looking like there and can you factually say of today (not yesterday) that people are still out and about on PC after curfew?

As an “older cat” this actually played to our strengths. Sosua Virgin but I found my footing and hunted about 3-4pm. Ship it by the 6pm curfew and had time to work the bartenders at the Infinity Blu pool after that. Due to my departing flight at 3am from STI I was forced to start the Sosua to STI drive at 10pm. Very deserted, actually peaceful drive. Actually passed a cop accidentally on the highway at almost midnight with no response.

Congrats on the success on your "virgin" voyage to SOSUA. .Maybe you can teach some of the supposed veterans some new tricks. You got a trip report??
