Fingerprinting Delays at POP Airport
« on: January 28, 2018, 11:14:14 PM »
There are loads of people on travel forums saying POP airport is now fingerprinting international travelers and it is causing delays of between two and three hours. Apparently it's both arrivals and departures. Travelers to other destinations in the Dominican Republic also report similar situations. I suppose we need to adjust travel times and expectations. That said, the country will lose some travelers who just don't want the hassle.

Just flew thru there last week , they weren't fingerprinting. But a couple Euro charter planes had it backed up. I know they finger print at STI, at least the did the 2 times I flew thru there.

I have done it in both pop and sti. Was there from Dec 27 to man 2. No delays experienced. I did have a issue with being escorted to secondary search 2 times within the matter of minutes. It was implied they thought I was a mule since my passport has been stamped 5 times to Dominican this year. Don't take the chance and travel clean. Nothing to worry about.

More folks write about this on trip advisor (they have more members). TripAdvisor has an 8 page plus thread going on how fingerprinting started late last week at POP and has been backing up folks for hours. No one there indicated anyone had been rejected upon entry or exit. They did claim it has delayed flight departures. Just plan accordingly.

The last time i flew to sti airport they were doing fingerprinting but they dont fingerprint people with dominican passports. The last 2 times i flew out of pop airport they took be in the back going through all my shit for secondary questioning its a pain in the ass. As soon as i showed them my passport at the first security check before you go to the scanners they took my passport from me and told me come with them.

Its Random and NO ONE still knows WHY the homie was put back on the plane and IF it is something embarrasing im sure we will never know.
So dont speculate.  Its really not that serious. Unless you got warrants

even if a cat ,got a warrant or on back childsupport ..he would have never been allowed to leave the USA country...Somehow i dont think the Dr systems are in communication with the USA systems.Ole boy would have had to do something in the DR that they found out about after he left and sent him back
