The government has finally come out with exactly how things will look for the first group of tourist that land in DR during the 1st part of July. I really want you guys to understand that this is something very fluid and the plan changes daily. We had a full plan twice and we had to go back to the drawing board twice to adjust it to what the new rules of the day were. In the next couple of days I'm sure the plan will change again.

The thing that people need to realize is that during theses times the government is really only concerned about tourist that go to Punta Cana or other All Inclusive Resorts. That is their concern, that is what all of their rules and policies right now are based on. Going to a resort and staying there until your vacation is over. Its their compromise to appease the huge donors from the tourism industry and the people that are concerned about the rising numbers of positive Covid Cases. In theory the Tourist will be locked in their resorts and the rest of the population will be locked down down without actually having a curfew in place. With that being said this is what you can expect

1) To enter into any restaurant or hotel facial masks, social distancing, and temperature checks are mandatory
2) Hotels and Lodging establishments are strongly encouraged to NOT be Chica friendly. They do not want the liability of locals mixing with gringos
3) Bars and Clubs ARE NOT allowed to be open right now
4) Restaurants can be open for dine in until 8pm. After 8pm no restaurants are allowed to be open for dine in. After 8pm its take out only.
5) Restaurants inside of resorts are allowed to be open for dine in after 8pm but only for guests of the hotel.
6) The beaches at resorts are allowed to open but they have not specified if other beaches are allowed to be open. In the DR ALL beaches are public, so if they allow beaches at resorts to open you technically you go there. Getting past the hotel security is another challenge

As it relates to Ahnvee and Bourbon Street in particular

1) We will follow all of the safety protocols outlined by the Government
2) We will continue to be guest friendly
3) We will take the advice of the Minister of Tourism and have appealing specials to attract the local market.
4) In Sosua we interpret the local market to mean the many girls that come to Sosua that don't have a place to stay. Therefore as a result of Covid and to make things more practical we will be renting rooms to "locals" on a selective basis. We have been going through the interview process and have reservations from several "locals". We can accommodate up to 300 "locals"
5) Our allotment for locals will not in any way affect our normal availability
6) Bourbon Street will be open from 8am-3am Sunday-Wednesday and 24hrs Thursday-Saturday
7) At Bourbon we have a completely new menu and a new Chef. Will have lots of surprises

We had a lot more planned but with the way things are its just not possible. The way things are for us right now we feel these are the measures that allow tourist to maximize their entertainment value with us while allowing us to be fully compliant within the rules. Even at that rate I'm sure things will change again and we will have to readjust. Right now we are seriously tap dancing and pushing things to the edge.

So just so I understand correctly, there will most likely be a smorgasbord of chicas renting a place to stay near the restaurant and also the restaurant's quality is also projected to be better with extended hours as well. Sold.

“ Right now we are seriously tap dancing and pushing things to the edge.”

Honestly if you can pull this off and it is sustainable it’s a home run.

Good for you!

Like I said, they keep moving the goalposts. Their is so much BS to sift through. They were trying to be so restrictive that we just decided to make the “locals” paying guests. That way their is no issue whatsoever. The restaurant, pool, and everything else inside of Ahnvee can be open after 8pm for hotel guests. The biggest hurdle that we are trying to cross right now is getting a solid definition of what constitutes a hotel guest. Once they give that definition we will form a strategy. Either way they go our goal is to make sure that everyone is able to have some sense of normalcy or the best version of that possible. Once the Covid stuff is over we will evaluate everything and see if this new model is sustainable for the long term.

  • maybe I can wash it off real quick 🤔
Appreciate the update Bourbon. With all the uncertainty, restrictions and other BS why even bother right now? 2021 folks. That's when I'll be back late winter/early spring of '21.

@ Bourbon St. I read the discos and casinos will not be opening until after August...but will Ahnvee have any type of music entertainment for the guests in attendance. I am assuming the big speakers next to the multi-tv's will be playing, but no Skybox, is that safe to assume?

Definitely won't have skybox open, but we will have the music and televisions on. With the locals actually living on the property we are hoping for things to be able to start earlier. Once they give the green light for clubs to open we will start with pool parties every day and Skybox will open again. We expect to have 300 locals onsite by Halloween.

That's cool, it looks like Ahnvee is still the place to be. Are you guys running any type of specials for the coming months or do I need to reach out to Milka for that?

Honestly, we just trying to get through the 1st week or so and see what happens. On paper this is our plan but we really wanna see how things are in reality. Definitely hit Milka, she will make sure you are taken care of.
