OR
Felons deadbeats or delinquents prohibited from traveling

Yes my dude I have a felony with prison time attached and no one looks at me twice. Its thinks its only sex crimes and high level drug offenses where they start messing with you.

How many banks you robbed, before you finally got caught?

No banks for me sir. I try to stay away from the feds whenever possible.

Remember a few months ago when naysayers were predicting doom and gloom? And that the first crew of folks to rush back to the DR might face quarantines abroad and back at home? Sickness in the DR with limited health care? Maybe even arrests?

Well, none of that is happening. As it turns out, now, as 7-11-20, this is one of the best times ever to monger in the DR. I mean one of the best times since American mongers discovered Sosua.

All I'm sayin' is that you have to wait to see how things turn out, but I never knocked the early dudes. Bless those guys who have boots on the ground now. They are having the time of their lives. I decided to wait until summer '21 to return but I had no problems with the early adopters who intended to be first on shore.

Those dudes are having a blast.

It appears history will show that returning to the Dominican Republic at the height of a pandemic was no more dangerous than staying put in the U.S.A. during the same pandemic.

Clearly, mongering in Sosua right now is safer than mongering in Miami. Who would have imagined that?

Onward, you dudes.

Safe for who might be the questions to ask.

It's going to take a few weeks to see if their is major spread in either direction based on the current crowd travelling.

For people coming back sick it will be up to the CDC to catch and report that based on people who are sick enough to need hospitalization and then passing on the info of where they possibly got sick.

I do hope things work out well for both sides(Gringoes and Dominicans) but personally I'm not expecting the picture to look that great come august. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Articulate, well thought out post as usual. I’m here now. Getting on a jammed packed American Airlines plane at this time is foolish in my opinion. AA may get their ass sued off for packing those planes. My last minute flight on Jet Blue out of San Juan to Punta Cana had no occupied middle seats. Paid a few dollars more to ride up front. Last guy on, first passenger off. Wiped everything down with Lysol disinfectant wipe, wore an N95 mask, surgical gloves and sure as hell didn’t use the bathroom on my 20 minute flight. Once I got to my rental car, I wiped down the interior.

In my experience commercial airplanes are germ incubators. In many years of extensive travel, it’s been my number one health risk. Colds, flu, bronchitis generally contracted after a flight. For years I’ve used a mask if the person next to me is coughing.

Personal responsibility is the key to fighting COVID-19.

@Fuentes why wait until 2021 if there is no doomsday..... The whole situation is fluid everywhere with this pandemic so things could change quickly. The good thing is most of the cases are in the bigger cities in the DR.  I want to sneak in a trip this year myself, but the restrictions and the disco closures are a no go for me.  In the meantime, I been banging chicks I've been meeting at the area BLM protest and having a blast.

Sex crimes. That's where most countries draw the line. I travel with a crew of Felons lol. Myself included as a predicate felon. I've been convicted of an A1 drug felony at that. They don't bat an eye. Little extra search in the States and we good to go! 🛫🛩✈🛬

Have to be careful as US could shut it down or place a mandatory quarantine on you coming back:

Tourism in the DR takes a heavy blow after recommendation by the US Embassy to its citizens
For today
The United States Embassy in Santo Domingo issued a level 4 health warning not to travel to the Dominican Republic due to the impact of COVID-19.

He warned American citizens to think about coming to the country about the situation of the pandemic:

The Dominican Republic has 43,114 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 864 confirmed deaths.
Medical care is seriously reduced with many hospitals almost or fully already at their maximum capacity, limited beds in Intensive Care Units, and increased risk of exposure to COVID-19 of hospitalized patients.

To keep its citizens residing in Dominican territory updated, the Embassy will send at least one update per week to ensure that everyone has the latest information on COVID-19.

He recommended:

All US citizens must comply with the restrictions established by the Government of the Dominican Republic.
Have a plan to leave the Dominican Republic that does not depend on the help of the United States government.
Visit the COVID-19 crisis page at travel.state.gov for the latest information on travel and other global impacts.
Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive alerts and facilitate their location in case of emergency.
On July 1, the Dominican Government opened the airports and allowed the restart of operations in the tourism sector, but this warning from the North American government would damage the aspirations of attracting tourists to the country. The United States is the main issuer of tourists, with 15,782,285 visitors from 2012 to 2019.

Another factor that could frustrate the revitalization of tourism is the request from various sectors for a state of emergency to be declared again due to the increase in contagion and deaths due to COVID-19.

Make sure you read the key line make sure you can get home on your own.  If they shut it down your on your own....

Sadly it looks like Doomsday is being escorted into the house....

Hope I am able to get back in the country at least some time in 2021. Was thinking early but starting to think that will not happen if things keep going the way they are now.

I could not agree with you more.  I had my plans for late August and I still may go but I am waiting to see how things turn out with COVID in DR through mid August.  It may be best to wait until Spring 2021 but I'll see.

I really do hope things are improving by August but looking at all the facts we are seeing now it seems like it would take a miracle for the DR not to be experiencing one big super spreader event right now. I will be elated to be wrong on this one but I doubt I will be. August will be a good time frame to see which direction things are going.

Smart man!

Just talked to flight attendant friend. She says demand for flights into POP, STI, PUJ still hella strong.

Life goes on.
