Here's a reason sosua will always be a buyer's market

Fellas, if you wanna know why the average income is based on different job markets in the Dominican, click the link. From there, you can consider other variables that may further impact that average. In the end, you get a great idea of how much you should be paying for various "services." While America is beautiful, we pay very high taxes and have a different level of comfort than that of say, developing countries, namely, The Dominican Republic. Despite its "developing country" identification, they still operate as a third world country. Americans have it hard, too, especially if you don't have a post-secondary education or, in some cases, you do have an education but have a poor job. In this case, Dominicans have it especially hard. The hard knock life is why so many turn to prostitution and or corruption. It's understood that doing illegal shit is how you have a better chance at eating and keeping a roof.

@ Jari  You hit the nail on the head there. I know girl that works at one of the AI resorts in Confresi. She works 6 days a week to bring home $100 a week. She is 30 and has 13 yo son, and actually gets help from the Dominican father. She is a solid 8 and much nicer than many of the chicas in Rhumbas and Classicos but as long as wages are that low and unemployment as high as it is, the scene in Sosua will be there. Some chicas will flock to it while others will work and earn much less. Imagine the States without food stamps, Section 8 and court enforced child support , every major town in America would have a Sosua.

@ Kung Fu I am just calling it as I see it. Sure some of theses chicas are straight hoes that just don't want to work and make easy money. There are a lot of them that are single mothers that are doing what it takes to make ends meet. I see it were I live in Cali where young transients will get their chicks pregnant to get food stamps and housing vouchers and free medical. I am talking about 18- 25 yo that could work but just don't buy into the concept of working to get what they need.

It is not just America, but a lot of the western European nations have in-built social safety nets that allow people in poverty to survive, and not turn to Sousa scene,  or crime.  Yet I think the permanence of the Sosua scene is more a symptom of poor governance, and poor economy. A good example of this is with Brazil, and Costa Rica who were huge mongering destinations, and still are big but due to successful economies there was less impetus for women to pursue this scene. In addition the price of these services rose because less women choosing that line of work means you will have increased prices. It would be interesting to see if Brazil returns with the dip in their economy, and the lack of a stable government.
