Thanks For The Support At The BBQ Competition
« on: July 05, 2018, 08:15:35 AM »
Just wanted to thank all of you that came out to the 1st annual BBQ Competition at Ahnvee. Also want to say thanks to all of the participants. It was a huge success. Great turnout, Great food, all around it was a great way to spend 4th of July. Big D ended up sweeping the competition in both the ribs and chicken categories. He took Home the 1st place trophy in those categories. Bourbon Street won 1st Place in the category of Hamburgers. People can say what the want about Big D but for this competition he was all the way locked in and was really on point with his meat. He is our first champion. Next year people will try to take his crown but for the next 364 days he can say he has the best BBQ in the Dominican Republic.

The Jamaican spot was there and represented well. He was sort of the peoples champion. Sold a lot of food. when it came down to the judging that was something different. A lot of the contestants were completely overwhelmed with the amount of people that showed up to buy their food. They were concentrating on selling BBQ. Big D is a vet and he was by far the most prepared. He took his time and really concentrated on the meat that he needed to present to the judges. You can have the best BBQ in the world but it comes down to that 1 slab of ribs or that 1 piece of chicken that you gotta present to the judges. Big D did his thing. The man can BBQ.

So let me get this straight,  BBQ contest was held in DR by Bourbon street -who is good with Big D- and first place is Big D, along with Bourbon street?
Sound rigged.
Just saying.
Don't get me wrong I love their BBQ ribs, its just that the whole idea of having a contest with ringers does not amuse me.

Just sayin guys, if you REALLY want to see competition,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, GO to the SOUTH (SC,NC, Texas, La etc)...................but in the Dominican Republic?
The contest should have been who makes the best mangu or mamajuanas or something from the DR.

Again guys this is JMHO. Let's not get all sentimental about it.

American holiday, nothing says July 4th like a good cookout. A lot of us live here and we celebrate American holidays. Should we say fuck it and carve up a pig instead of a turkey on Thanksgiving? Should we light up plantains on halloween? No better yet instead of watching the Super Bowl during the first Sunday in Feb we should watch baseball because we are in the Dominican Republic. Lots of Americans here, both living and tourist and we celebrate American holidays. Hope to see you at the Labor Day event.

whoa bourbon!!
who the fuck is saying NOT to celebrate american holidays? WHO? Just because I suggested a competition of mangu and mamajuanas? GTFOHWTBS!!
I think you are getting to fucking sensitivo when calling out the whole "BBQ competition" a rigged event.
Let's not change the narrative, I love AMERICAN holidays and I am not suggesting in anyway shape or form NOT TO CELEBRATE THEM!!!
But, I will call a spade a spade. The whole BBQ competition sounds rigged, that is all.

Again fam, JMHO, no need to get over sensitivo about it.

Bro, I am the most non sensitive dude that u will ever meet. I choose to  ignore the innuendo about the contest being rigged. I did however address the fact that you were wondering why we had a BBQ contest and not a mamajuana contest. I just explained that we did it as a way to celebrate a American tradition. Now, that my man was the most politically correct response I could give. Please don't talk about being sensitive. You gave your opinion, I gave mine. Period. Im good.

Even if it was slanted towards a local competitor which it likely wasn't who cares

It was a small time local event.  At the end of the day it doesn't matter.

Anyone who has had Big D bbq knows he makes a tasty dish so I wouldn't be even the slightest bit surprised if he put out the best product.

If they rigged the event than someone from Anhvee would have won or another Dominican would have won.

If the mayor of Sosua entered the competition she probably would have won.  Than you can say it was rigged and it probably should be lol

Big D is a local yes but from the USA.  Pretty sure his product would stand up pretty much anywhere in the DR or likely many other places for that matter.

Instead of knocking them down how about building up Ahnvee for taking the initiative to put the event together when there is little else of interest going on in Sosua this time of year
