So let me get this straight,  BBQ contest was held in DR by Bourbon street -who is good with Big D- and first place is Big D, along with Bourbon street?
Sound rigged.
Just saying.
Don't get me wrong I love their BBQ ribs, its just that the whole idea of having a contest with ringers does not amuse me.

Just sayin guys, if you REALLY want to see competition,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, GO to the SOUTH (SC,NC, Texas, La etc)...................but in the Dominican Republic?
The contest should have been who makes the best mangu or mamajuanas or something from the DR.

Again guys this is JMHO. Let's not get all sentimental about it.

American holiday, nothing says July 4th like a good cookout. A lot of us live here and we celebrate American holidays. Should we say fuck it and carve up a pig instead of a turkey on Thanksgiving? Should we light up plantains on halloween? No better yet instead of watching the Super Bowl during the first Sunday in Feb we should watch baseball because we are in the Dominican Republic. Lots of Americans here, both living and tourist and we celebrate American holidays. Hope to see you at the Labor Day event.

whoa bourbon!!
who the fuck is saying NOT to celebrate american holidays? WHO? Just because I suggested a competition of mangu and mamajuanas? GTFOHWTBS!!
I think you are getting to fucking sensitivo when calling out the whole "BBQ competition" a rigged event.
Let's not change the narrative, I love AMERICAN holidays and I am not suggesting in anyway shape or form NOT TO CELEBRATE THEM!!!
But, I will call a spade a spade. The whole BBQ competition sounds rigged, that is all.

Again fam, JMHO, no need to get over sensitivo about it.

Bro, I am the most non sensitive dude that u will ever meet. I choose to  ignore the innuendo about the contest being rigged. I did however address the fact that you were wondering why we had a BBQ contest and not a mamajuana contest. I just explained that we did it as a way to celebrate a American tradition. Now, that my man was the most politically correct response I could give. Please don't talk about being sensitive. You gave your opinion, I gave mine. Period. Im good.

Ok ok, cool cool.
I was gonna say, Bourbon getting sensitive?
Rigged or not, that was no competition when the coordinator is the same who wins. Just sayin.
Peace.

Clearly it was a fun brotherhood event and another positive for all of you guys that do business in  D.R.  Friendly competition is always a positive. Although I don't indulge, if Big D's ribs are anything like his chicken it was probably well deserved - but my boys tell me the Jamaican spot is their favorite.   At the end of the day it was a win win for everyone.

@Al NYC - Jamaica Swizzle Mix and Grill international next to Bon Bon. He's the real deal. Be prepared to wait a while on your meal but it's well worth it.

Oh you mean right up the block from New Garden hotel. Never ate there but friends of mines had recently a couple of months ago. They liked the food but they thought Moshe's spot on the beach had better Jamaican food. I'm surprised to hear that their BBQ should have taken 1st prize in the competition.

Yes Sir, right up the block from New Garden. The oxtails and curry chicken are off the charts. I never had the spot you referring to but again I'm limited to where I eat there. Next time I'm in town, I'm going to show VP some love and support as well.

Doubt this was rigged.  I also doubt that there was any real money for the winner, so why rig a fun event?  Just doesn't make any sense.

Awesome idea and I hope you guys make this an annual event!!!
