Would More Entertainment Options Bring More People Out?
« on: September 19, 2018, 03:07:11 PM »
I was talking about this with a group of guys this weekend. This past Saturday Night was packed in Sosua. Every place that was showing the fight was full. Rumbas, Real, Flip Flop, Bourbon, Everywhere! Its the middle of low season and it looked like a weekend in Feb or March. Obviously people came out to watch the fight, but is GGG Canelo that big of a draw? My question is do you guys think people came out because of the fight or was it because they knew people would be on the strip? I think that more and more guys are doing the villa thing and places outside of the center of Sosua. Its hard to convince your crew to get dressed and go to the same spot 4 nights in a row. Do you guys think if there were other clubs or better yet live events there would be more people out? I know most guys are down looking for hoes but judging from the past couple of weeks guys really are looking for other things to do. I think Sosua could use a couple more clubs. Don't get me wrong, Classico is good but I think after the 2nd time people are more inclined to stay at the villa or hit Cabarette or POP. I think other clubs or live events on the weekend would bring the villa guys out more.

That fight was a huge draw and here in the US bars were full as well!

Personally, I go for the hoes, but I also need to be entertained when I'm vertical. I'm older so
I look for bars with entertainment, like the game being on, dancers, or the casino action.
And Definitely and club with AIR CONDITIONING will get my money!!!

I think more clubs would be great but it has to be something original. I don’t think Sosua needs another Classico.

Hadnt had time to catch up with you,  but I Honestly think WEEK 1 and GGG fight night was an anomaly... Was just wierd to see sooo many people out. Bourbon is packed after 7/8pm reguardless.  But EVERYWHERE was full on week 1 of NFL and You had to reserve a seat for GGG/Canelo.

A diff vibe OTHER than classico would be a move. I think (I know I am) most are tired of classico.  overpriced ad then the double selling of VIPS almost causing riots.. the money grab is real, need a place where e veryone feels a little more comfortable and appreciated.

I said the same thing. I want to see if this weekend is like the last 2 weekends. Ok, I understand that the fight brought a bunch of people to the strip, But did it bring a bunch of people to DR? for them to come to the strip they had to already be here. I just don't think dudes in the states said, hey lets go to Sosua to watch the fight. I wanna know if there are a lot more lurkers in Sosua than we think. Dudes that come into town and don't really hit the strip. Dudes that just hang at the villa and have girls come through. Maybe they come out on Friday or Saturday night. I know there are a lot of really good looking girls in town sometimes and they never set foot in Classico or come on the strip. Those girls gotta be going somewhere.

VP said it.  It's an anomaly. It help that it was the first week of football season!  In regards to more entertainment, Sosua is in desperate need.  But the city officials don't want to much publicity in that area.

I’m not sure, but what I can add was JetBlue flights from NY during the month of September were some of the cheapest I seen all year long.  I’m not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Oh there are DEFF lurkers.. I know Kats who ONLY leave the villa to come say hello and they out. Never hit the strip at all.  Some dont bother with the strip. The town will have people even when they arent seen on the strip. So if there is an additional way to get em out then so be it.

I spoke to one group every day for 2 months and saw them the day they got on the boat. Never saw or heard from em again. they were in they villa doing them

AC  Air Conditioning!!! it is fucking hot as hell.
I love the DR, but the out door thing is just too much heat after a few hours of drinking and eating. JMHO.

I said before some small live music would be a nice touch like they have Caberete

.....guys would be on the plane coming down for bachelor partys staying in a Villa but i would never see them on the strip, but that was when Pica was open, i think alot of guys would pick from there and never hit the strip, now because its close, guys will have to come to the strip..

Of course additional entertainment, clubs, restaurants etc. wont hurt, but what attracts people to Sosua first and foremost are the beautiful women. Then things like the weather, beach, friendly people, good money exchange (things that you can get on other caribbean islands or other cities in D.R. ) come into play. As for guys coming and not hitting the strip .....I imagine some don't .... but somebody is packing Classicos and the Merengue Lounge ...........

If I were you, I would open a spot inside Ahnvee “a lounge” with pool table and ping pong and live DJ with drink specials “the first few months” throw some life concerts in there and drow even the local crowd,,,,, focus on Latin music with top 40 hits in between

The reason I said inside Ahnvee because that area around Ahnvee is dead my guy, and I assume since it’s inside your property and considered a lounge, you might open and close as you please which means staying open after closing hours mandatory by the city “again this is an assumption”

Serve some bar food late in that lounge also, and serve hooka bc that would attract the young dudes and locals, chicas included

Again, it might take time to pick up as all biz do, but if you think everybody doesn’t mind taking a taxi or Carrito or moto to playa chiquita, I think they will do the same for you

Bourbon.... I mentioned awhile ago  an arcade type place similar to Dave n Busters... batting cages, half court b-ball.... comfort food. Also an idea of an upscale cigar/hookah lounge with light food and music!  As for clubs the wave in Caribbean is foam or pool clubs! Where you can do Day party’s as well as night!
