I'm in sosua now. The curfew means nothing to the taxi mafia. If your chica has a hook in them she can get just about anything delivered. I had a bunch of food and booze delivered on 8 pm Saturday night. Three hours AFTER the curfew...

I think Sosua has a smart mayor.

Not sure about the 7pm curfew. That is probably accurate. It pushes the action to daylight hours. Perfect for grandpa.

For day gamers there is no reason to cancel your trip.
The new mayor is probably a smart mayor.   He has started off doing good things in town.  Stuff that makes me proud to be a Sosua resident.   However,  I hope you arent giving the mayor credit for the decision to have the beach open?   Because the beach being open was not his initial call/decision.   Early on he had a meeting with his staff and was going to close the beach.

The Civil Defense branch of govt authorized certain beaches to be allowed to remain open.   And even so,  C D initially said all beaches were closed,  and later changed their order to allow certain beaches to open.     As far as i know, in the Puerto Plata province ( which includes Sosua ) the curfew starts at 7pm.     If somebody knows it was changed, please advise?    Personally I would love to see the curfew go to at least 8pm instead of 7.

If you are still there now can you please confirm if the beach is open at all or closed completely as of right now?

I’m on another island so no longer an eyewitness but expats tell me the beach is open. Those that previously weren’t on the ground and nevertheless claimed it was closed, appear to no longer participate on this forum.

Read my lips. The beach was never closed since 7/1. The government rescinded their announcement.
