Jamaican Restaurant (near New Garden)
« on: November 10, 2015, 05:57:26 PM »
On my last trip to Sosua (August) I arrived just as they were opening.

Got some of the best jerk chicken I've had.

Unfortunately, the menu was limited, due to the opening.

Any news????

I ate here during my 1st trip down recently.  Food was on point.  They didn't have the ribs on the menu, but instead I got BBQ chicken wings with the cabbage and rice and peas and it was official.

Wasn't really too adventurous with eating, but was mildly disappointed with some of the other spots and food not being well seasoned.

Extremely disappointing!!  Got back a couple of weeks ago.  Very stingy with the meat on menu.  They will load you up with rice and vegetable but light on the meat.  Also, tried to upcharge on a lunch special.  I'll never go there again.  Perhaps others felt the same way.  Every time I walked past the place, it was empty.

I agree, he can be a bit stingy with the meat sometimes, but I give him the benefit of the doubt. My issue with him is that he always is out of what I want....so now when I come is say "what do you have left" and he'll tell me, then I'll order based on what he's got remaining. Maybe it's because I come in the late afternoon....but damn bruh.

They got oxtail?

The dude on the beach- has good jerk but for whatever reason with oxtail I have to tell him early a day head.

The reason you have to tell Mosha  a day ahead is he has to go to Puerta Plata and get it. Eaten there many times I won't even try the other place near new garden Mosha has some of the best Jamaican food I have ever had

Alex food is pretty good just not a lot of meat. The rum puch is probably my best drink in sosua. As for dread on the beach his price is kinda steep but said its all natural ingredients, any ways nothing can't beat stochies in JA though.

The food is good.  Combo is expensive though. I have tried jerk pork, chicken, oxtail and curry goat.
