First timer arriving in November.

Should I stay at Blackbeard's or Ahnvee?

What are the main differences?

I have seen the differences in the rooms online.

Both are crap....
You can’t just say that without giving alternatives....

If room quality is your No. 1 consideration then you don't want Blackbeards or many of the rooms at Ahnvee. Sosua Inn is the closest thing to a USA 4-star hotel room experience in the DR. The only thing better, in my experience, is an upscale villa. Blackbeards has 2.5- or 3-star rooms but the overall experience with the chicas is exciting. Pretty much the same thing about Ahnvee.

It would be very sweet indeed if all the rooms at Ahnvee or Blackbeards were the quality of the rooms at Sousa Inn. However, that's just not the case.

I think the rooms at blackbeards are fine. Part of the allure of going to the Caribbean is trying to spend as little time in the room as possible (outside of fucking.

Also, both the captaina room and the penthouse suite at blackbeards are very nice. Captains goes for 75 and penthouse for 110. Penthouse is comparable to a nice 2 bed 2 bath villa.

Mack,

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think you’re being disingenuous here with your assertion that rooms at Ahnvee AND Blackbeard’s are both “crap.”

What’s the criteria for a crap room? Beat down furniture? Dirty room? Vermin? No hot water/running water? Small bed? No AC? Uncomfortable mattress? No cable TV? Mold? Foul odor(s)?

I think all, or most of the aforementioned would form a reasonable baseline for the definition of a “crap” room, and no room at Ahnvee or Blackbeard’s has these issues, so what’s a crap room?

Honestly some of the rooms at black beards are nicer than rooms i have had at lifestyles and other all inclusive. Never stayed at ahnvee so I can't comment on them.

You make a good point about the rooms at Lifestyles. Some of the rooms are awful. Stay away from those. Typically, they are the rooms advertised in super-cheap, third-party internet deals. Don't buy those packages if you want a good vacation experience. if you pay the regular going rate you'll get a good room. How good it is depends on how much you are spending.

I've actually found that the key to a good room at Lifestyles is to pay for the cheap room online and then act surprised when you arrive that you booked a cheap room and offer cash to the front desk to upgrade to a nicer room. Always cheaper than just booking the nice room online.

Also, The girls move on or get replaced at Blackbeards if guys are not choosing them. They do pretty good most of the time. I was only disappointed one time out of all the years of going there. They hated me. I was not choosing none of them and the one fine chick stayed busy. I never saw it like that again.

Right now they have some good performers.

The rooms are regular. They are not the highlight of the place.  Driving seems the best thing to avoid the taxi mafia.

With the curfew, Im not so sure if its worth having a vehicle.

If you are not against riding a motoconcho, you can catch one into the city of Puerto Plata and find much cheaper transportation to where you want to go.

I'll be driving and plan to wind up in a last location by nine. I agree it's inconvenient but it is what it is. And I'm all over the island, so not driving is out of the question. I don't think there will be a highway patrol between cities so we'll see what happens if I get caught after curfew.

Most people who stay at Ahnvee complain about the noise from the music that's played all night, and the slippery ass steps leading to the bathroom.

When People say, "all night" at Ahnvee do they mean people are partying or hanging out at Ahnvee until morning when the curfew is finished? Or just until Midnight-ish.

People should already know what they are getting into when they book there. If someone is the type to go to be early, then it might not be the place to have a room for sleep.

And leaving Anhvee during curfew is a risk of being stopped........ if you are not in a taxi from what is discussed on TMBTS.
