Most men wear shorts, tshirts, sneakers or sandals during  the day and a lot of men do also at night. Dress how you want to dress. I prefer collared shirts to tshirts. I might wear short sleeve collared shirts in the day with shorts or light material long pants and comfortable slip on shoes.
I wear a sleeveless t under my shirt in case I stroll to the beach area and it gets a bit hot.
At night I prefer to wear a nice collared shirt and long pants. I'm older so it's probably one of those age-appropriate things for me, whatever that means.
But it is completely up to you. Wear what YOU feel comfortable about wearing. I'm not sure it matters to the women. I do think dressing up some has sometimes helped me get a better vibe and better service from the women I have encountered there. Enjoy!

outside of sosua or cabarette, into the real DR, men where long pants all the time...

in these normal areas, shorts scream tourist other than on the beach

THE OVERWHELMINGLY MAJORITY OF GUYS HAVE ON SNEAKERS, SHORTS AND SUMMER SHORT SLEEVE SHIRTS AT THE CLUB. I ALSO PREFER COLLARD SHIRTS AT NIGHT. WHATEVER YOU WEAR, AS LONG AS ITS CLEAN AND UPDATED (DON'T COME DRESSED LIKE BOB HOPE OR JACK BENNY) YOU'LL BE GOOD AND COMFORTABLE.
