How Long is Too Long in the Land of Funk?
« on: June 05, 2018, 04:04:27 PM »
What's the longest you've stayed in Sosua, including say a sidetrip to Blackbeards, but not really any other touring? How long is too long?
Women need a reason to have sex. Men just need a place. Sosua will do just fine.

I’ve stayed for months at a time. However, there’s a difference between a vacation stay where you got to go home and a long term stay where you don’t have the return pressure. For me staying over two weeks is too long to stay in vacation mode. Knowing that I need to leave works against getting comfortable so things start to feel repetitious. On the other hand if I'm staying long term at two weeks I’m just getting comfortable. With the long term stay I’m taking my time as opposed to the rush of a vacation stay. It makes a world of difference.

Wow! Months? You're my hero. I have been traveling to the DR for dental surgery. Longest I have stayed is about 10 days. This time will be three weeks. We'll see how it goes!

What are you getting done to the teeth. I never thought of Dominican.

Turkey is popular for this at the moment.
I also know Thailand has a good reputation.

I cancelled by dental insurance in the U.S., which I thought was worthless. I get everything done in the DR, including cleanings. When I come down in October I am completing one implant with the installation of the new tooth, and also having two more implants inserted. Also having two wisdom teeth extracted.

Implants in the DR are about $1500 US total. In the states it's $3K to $5K each, depending on the surgeon. I use Dental Ciabo in Santiago. It's a super modern, super clean facility. Each time I visit the office I meet Americans flying in from the states for treatment.

It's super easy to get there from Sosua. Just take the Metro Bus to Santiago. Dental Ciabo is walking distance from there. I have been extremely satisfied with the service and level of professionalism.

P.S.

If you have a significant other at home and need an excuse to spend 1-2 weeks in the DR, then dental tourism is an excellent choice. I will have a total mouth restoration by the time we're done -- and will have banged too many chicas to count! LOL.
