So I just broke up with my girl of 4 years  and just booked this trip 3 days ago.  Coming into STI this Friday at 3:20 AM and staying until Tuesday at 4 AM from STI as well.  Just looking to see if anyone had any recommendations or suggestions they could offer.  It'll be my first time back there in about 5 years.

Other than the plane ticket, I haven't booked any hotels/airbnbs, so things could be rearranged.  I'm also pretty decent at Spanish having lived in Colombia, so language shouldn't be an issue.

Friday....Take an uber/something from STI to Sosua for Friday through Sunday/Monday.  I've stayed at Rocky's and the one that was across from D. Latin's before (think it's calles Las Palmeras and managed by Obie/Odie).  Not sure if I'll stay at either, but not worried about it either way.

Sat-Beach during day/party at night

Sun-Here's where I could probably most use some advice.  I'm debating if I should head out of Sosua Sunday and head to Blackbeard's (never been there). I'd spend Sunday there.  Through the forum, it looks like Sunday night might be a good night to head to POP for the bars on the beach that has more locals and try my hand at that.

Monday-thinking about leaving BBs and then going to the 27 waterfalls (love those) en route to Santiago for my last evening before my flight.

Thoughts?

If anyone's around, especially some of the posters like FuentesFuentes who has been a gold mine of info (Thanks!), I'd love to buy you a beer.

Welcome to the board, quicksilver! Sounds like you're going to have a blast, especially with your Spanish language skllls. I won't be back in town until summer, but maybe one of these days our paths will cross and I'll take you up on that cold Presidente. I can see you're pretty much a vet, so you've got this thing pretty figured out. As for Blackbeards, Sunday is the slowest day of the week there, but sometimes that's good because you'll have your pick of the top chicas. But you won't be able to get into your room until around 3 p.m. after possibly having partied all night Saturday in Sosua and checking out of your hotel there at 11 a.m.

Try to get a late checkout in Sosua so you can sleep in or rest until about 2 p.m. before heading to BB and having your room there available as soon as you arrive. As you probably know fatigue catches up with you quick on the shorter stays, especially with those late night/early morning flights.

Other guys will chime in with more suggestions. Have fun!

P.S.

Sorry about your girlfriend, but Sosua is one hell of a way to get over a breakup. LOL.

Sounds like a master plan...
Try Casa Valeria or Sosua Inn, make sure you stop by Flip Flop and Bourbon Street. Have fun... Happy hunting.

one warning I want to give you guys about Uber in Santiago. If its a local trip 9/10 you will be fine. But when you try to take Uber from the Airport to Sosua or Santo Domingo the driver will pull up and ask how are you paying. Of course you will look at him like WTF are you talking about. Then he will say if you pay in cash Ill take you, If you use the Uber App then that doesn't work for me. Its not worth it. Happened to me twice. Both times I was sending someone long distances from Santiago. not saying that will be your experience, I'm just saying have a plan B if you depending on UBER

This has happened to me. Best way out of it is just to offer the Uber driver a couple dollars more than the Uber rate -- in cash. Almost all of the Uber drivers now are balking at the long-distance drives for rates that are significantly less than they were accustomed to receiving before Uber. If the Uber driver balks at your cash offer just tell him to cancel the ride. Then put in another request.
