Title: Packing and Bringing Your Own Food 4 The Grill
Post by: Young C on February 06, 2019, 01:01:36 PM
So the last time I visited I had this grand plan to save tons of money by going to the grocery store as soon as I arrived. My villa came equipped with a grill and I planned on utilizing it instead of eating out every day.

Went to the store and got everything I thought I'd need: hamburger meat, hot dogs, chicken, cheese, ketchup- figured I was pretty much set.

After throwing some burgers with cheese on the grill, I soon found out that their hamburger meat tasted nothing like ours, in the U.S and the cheese- Shit was tangy and straight up nasty! I ended up throwing it all out and wasting a lot of money.

Anyway, I'm back at it again with plans to cook on my grill for my stay but this time I want to import my food from the U.S by packing it in a suitcase and bringing it with me.

Has anyone every done this before? Any best practices or words of caution?

I once brought in thanksgiving dinner. My understanding is if they wanted to they could stop you from bringing in meats; however I’ve never heard of that happening to a tourist.

You can't bring meat into the country. If they scan your bag when you get there and see it they will confiscate it. I bought meat in 3 times first 2 times I got it thru the 3rd time they caught it and took it. I know security was grilling and eating good that night! Good luck

It's all about whether you get caught. Here's an old thread about this on DR1.com:

I am not picky, but yeah the hamburger meat down there is barely edible. Seems like half of what you get in a burger is bread and some kind of spices they throw in. On the North Coast I stick with fish, chicken. I even eat the little oysters the guy hauls around the beach packed in ice. A bit dangerous maybe but I never had a problem.

Thanks, that was what I was kinda thinking.

I mean what's the worst that can happen, they confiscate it?

I do it all the time and have so for years. Back when the Shark Bar was open on Pedro Clisante Lou had a friend who flew in every few weeks and brought steaks. I did the same thing after asking the questions. Good to pack it solid to keep frozen.

Have not had any problems. I bring steaks and hamburger meat.

Here's the official word from the U.S. side:

I know people who have brought frozen meat to the DR in their checked baggage.

Lmao he actually wrote his post with a straight face... "hamburgers and hot dogs". LMAO

Imagine if he had some chicas with him? They would have clowned his ass. If the hot dogs and hamburgers were in addition to a big meal for a group of people IN ADDITION to real food then yeah thats different but just that by itself?

Maybe he and his chaperon spent too much at his class field trip the week before and ran out of money

You thought that reply was clever didn't you? That's cute.

Don't be mad bro. Your shit was weak. Take this as a teaching moment.

This is what you said:

Went to the store and got everything I thought I'd need: hamburger meat, hot dogs, chicken, cheese, ketchup- figured I was pretty much set.

Yea... you weren't set. You threw a 4th grader cookout... and for yourself no less. I mean spend your ends how you want... Pero... If you put as much energy into upgrading your flavor palate as you do about being an internet tough guy we wouldn't be having this exchange now would we?

This was also you:

I bring what I want. I can eat steaks here in the U.S if and when I want them. Check yo self before you wreck yourself.

So... humor me... how do you take your steaks? I know the answer but I'll wait for you to tell me.

Also... This was you too:

"Check yo self before you wreck yourself."

How old are you?

I find it real interesting how dudes jump in on a post asking simple questions but want to give, what they believe to be smart conjectures.

Could it be because they have nothing else worthwhile to offer?

And I'm sure you're really good at taking steak- as Trump would say "The Best!"

::sigh:: you are making this easy for me.

You make it a point to continue make very juvenile sexuality references. I am convinced you think it's funny. I am also convinced you only have two wells to draw from ( 1 - I can beat you up 2 - You are like a female ). Then you follow it up with trying to use big words that I don't think you know what they mean. Then you followed that up with improper (and rather blatant) use of punctuation in the same sentence where you accuse me of being fake smart. The irony?

I asked simple questions that I figured would not go over your head. Questions you have continued to side-step by the way.

Today I got time...

I bet you do. I'm done with the back and forth.

I come on these forums to learn about bitches- didn't expect to find any like you.

I only give time to bitches I like  ;)

Yoooo.....Why tf is ANYbody worried about what he's eating? Lol If homeboy wanna survive off strictly rice and beans every meal the entire trip, then so be it....it's his money.

Hell, some of the chicks posted on here look like human versions of "hotdogs" and "hamburgers", but everybody just keeps it moving for the most part.

@Young C if you have a taste for  hamburgers and hot dogs freeze them and put them in your luggage. If they were to check your luggage and take them which I doubt, you have only lost a couple of dollars. Give it a try and grill some good burgers and dogs.

If I was throwing a cookout I would have ribs, steaks and wings as well as... but I doubt chicas would clown a dude over having hot dogs and burgers. Those greedy bitches will eat you out of house and home. Leave a chica unattended and your refridgerator will be ransacked. Nothing left...nada

Most def. Just bringing a few because last time what I bought wasn't my cup of tea.

I got a villa to myself so I'm definitely not trying to throw cookouts or anything close. Also not trying to serve up steaks or ribs to no chica IF I decide to cook something on the grill.

They can work with those Lil' Debbies and when they're done get ready...

Don't be a cheap Charley, you feed them well, they will fuck like stallions.
It is still a lot cheaper to have a BBQ then to get ripped off feeding dese hoes shrimp at Bailees!
No one says you gotta feed a chica prime rib, a marinated London Broil costs next to nothing and feeds 6 people.
The German Butcher has amazing cuts on the road out to Cab.

A general rule of thumb, if I am gonna hook up with a chica TLN. I make sure she is fed, and has a few drinks in her.  Short time girls not happening.
