Planning to do Medellin Colombia. Need advice from the OG's
« on: February 01, 2019, 02:33:26 PM »
So i would consider myselfa sosua vet. I think its time to venture out and try something new. Me and my buds are planning colombia for march. Some questions for those who have experience  in colombia:

1) what town in medellin should i be aiming for? Where is the action at?

2) chica friendly hotel or airbnb (4 of us)? Recommendations?

3) exchange my money? If so where w/o getting ripped off?

4) where are the "casas" located?are they in the open or in secret?

5) chica etiquette same as sosua or difderent? Give me the breakdown on how to handle this so i dont look like a fool lol

6) day time acivities / Nightlife recommendations / food

7) safety tips and any other pertinent info u think i will need

Me and my friends are all pretty good looking spanish guys in our 30's. We speak spanish and are not obnoxious. We knlw how to carry ourselves. The advice and help from u guysis amazing and has helped me out tremendously on past trips. Looking to repeat that with Colombia. Much appreciated gents

What dates in March? Read a couple of the Medellin trip reports, nuggets of gold information in there. PM the dates if you'd like

1- Poblado near Parque Lleras is the main tourist area, tons of bars and restaurants. I think Laureles is the other section.
2- I only use AirbNb but send message to host making sure they're fine with guests. They'll know what you're referring to.
3- I use ATM, never had an issue. There is about a $4 fee for using it but you'll get the best rate. Just make sure to take out the max each time 600k which is almost $200.
4- https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?ll=6.244885723383993%2C-75.57915880000002&mid=1UVedgvV9mnLoziGtEVUxO3Msya3pi7tP&z=12
5- In my 2 trips there I can say girls here are much prettier, better attitudes, and none of the drama. They're also not as aggressive and it isn't always obvious who is a working girl and who is not. However, all girls are approachable so don't just walk up to someone asking how much they charge.
6- Day time will be WhatsApp or Casas, nighttime around  Parque Lleras but we're talking about after 10PM.
7- Medellin is a very safe place, tons of cops walking around. However, don't go around acting like a fool. Some of the way ya act in Sosua won't fly here.

You might not want to return to Sosua after Medellin :)

@nick I use the ATM at Éxito Express supermarket. Really think any ATM will do including Bancolombia which has a few near the park.

Cra. 36 #7-27, Medellín, Antioquia

OneManArmy the Google map link I provided contains the Casa addresses. Just filter the list.

Check periodically for tickets from NY. Some days they're almost $800 others they're $520-680. Avianca has a system in place that randomly turns on super promo fairs. Right now it's off so regardless of which date you search the fairs are over $700
