Potential first time visit to Puerto Plata/Sosua in a few weeks
« on: November 30, 2018, 09:22:49 PM »
Hi, I am potentially taking a trip to the DR in a few weeks. Did a lot of research, but hoping you guys can provide any comments/suggestions, and answer a few questions. I'm a newbie in general but have been to Colombia and few other spots and dabbled a little.

I'll be going to Puerto Plata and will be staying at Iberostar and unfortunately won't be able to setup in Sosua, but will be going there each night.
-Is Sosua going to be poppin the weekend before Christmas (Dec 20-23) in terms of both tourists and girls?
Ideally, I want to be there when it is busy to get the best experience possible. If its going to be dead I may be able to alter the dates.

Since I will be at Iberostar, my plan is to hit up BlackBeards and/or Oasis during the daytime (mostly BlackBeards). From researching it appears that BlackBeards will rent rooms hourly if available, or you can take a chica to a nearby cabana.
-Are most of the BlackBeards girls willing to go to a cabana if necessary?
-If so are the cabanas close to BlackBeards and clean/safe? Hopefully transport cost is minimal.
-Does BlackBeards need to see/copy my passport or ID before I can do anything?

I assume there are taxis at BlackBeards that can take me to the cabanas and assume there will be taxis at the cabanas to take me back. I don't like motos and want to avoid those.

At night, my plan is to Uber to Sosua. I have been checking the Uber app frequently and it appears Uber is plentiful in the Puerto Plata area and by Iberostar, and pretty cheap. For the reverse trip back to Iberostar, it shows no Uber availability - I guess due to the taxi coalition that I have read about here.
-Is it safe to take a random taxi off the street from Sosua to Iberostar late at night between 11pm - 2am? I guess my question is can the drivers be trusted and is the  route itself safe?
I always read about shady taxi drivers or random robberies on the roads outside of towns at night in countries like this, so want to be sure. Maybe I can get a Uber driver's WhatsApp and have him pick me up when I am ready.

I am trying to figure out my options for short time in Sosua since I won't have a hotel there. From what I read, it appears Bar Central has rooms on site, and there is also a place called Dulce Secreto.
-Are these places legit and clean/safe? Is Dulce near all the action? I don't want to venture too far off the main strip.
I guess another option is for me to just pay for a night at a regular cheap hotel and just ditch the room when I am done, but I won't be carrying my passport so they would have to be OK with a driver's license.

Also, I may hit up Kviar club near the Iberostar and see what happens, seems like there are opportunities there also. If anyone can recommend cabanas for late at night by Kviar then that would be great. I would rather tell the driver where to go than to depend on the chica and driver to take me somewhere they choose.

Finally, why can't we have sh** like this in America, the land of the free?? LOL

Thanks

Kubrick

Hi @vk2018 you have a lot of good questions. But, why are you staying at Iberostar if you want to be either in Sosua or at Blackbeard's? I ask because  all of this travel you are considering between Iberostar, Sosua, BBs, and cabanas adds up to much time and pesos.

Yeah, I'm curious as to why you choose Iberostar also.  I stayed there a few months ago, but i had a girl staying with me.

As for traveling from Iberostar to Sosua (and back), the public car may be the cheapest route. Yeah taxis are available, but that shit will be hella expensive.

I should have explained up front the reason for Iberostar. I am planning it with a few other people, who just want to go for a regular all-inclusive vacation like we have done in the past in other cities. They aren't down to do anything with chicas, but they don't care what I do, so I am on my own in terms of all that. Even if I was solo, may have been difficult for me to pull off staying in Sosua without raising suspicion back home.

The situation is not ideal and is a pain logistically. It will also be expensive. But hopefully I can make it work. This will be a once in a blue moon type visit for me so I don't mind having to shell out the extra cash.

I envy you guys who are able to go every year or multiple times a year and not have to worry about anyone figuring out what you are doing.

I will tell you this: don't bother trying to get to the su during Christmas week. It's gonna be a ghost town.  As far as taxis go the main thing you gotta worry about with them is how they rip you off price wise. I think maybe you should reach out to blackbeards see if they will be open during the days you will be there and how many girls will be working. Just book a room there in addition to the place you are staying.  Because it's cheaper to do the daily rate than to rent it twice for st.  Plus they also let you bring in your own girls if you're able to pull something else. As far as other possible spots to get chicas I would probably suggest doing the dating apps like tinder, tagged, Badoo etc. Just see if you can get them to come to blackbeards, but only spend time with chicas that are in the Puerto Plata area. Any girls in Santo Domingo that you talk to you can forget about importing unless you spending major bucks. The time from a few days before Christmas until New year's might be the worst time of year to go to the North coast for mongering.

Hi vk2018

Yes Blackbeard has hourly rate if less busy but you must call them to make sure and they would want to see your passport. I’m sosua though I have have book a room for smash only at feebreaze near casa marina for $40 cash a night and no ID is required and that hotel is 5 minutes walk to the trip/action.
There is another cheap hotel called coco hotel that one is a bit far I would say 10 to 15mn walk from the main action and I believe the room price is about $30.00 a night and you don’t need an ID either.
But I would recommend carrying at least a photocopy of drivers license or passport and leave the original documents in your iberostar hotel safe.

For kviar I have been there a few times, nothing compared to Classico in sosua, there are many locals with theirs chicas so be very careful when talking to a chica there in case they are with their men
I hope this helps a bit
Enjoy when you go

I have heard of Iberostar but not familiar with its location and proximity to Blackbeards. Lifestyles Resort, is a close all-inclusive, only 10 minutes away by taxi. But I see you are traveling with a group so you just have to make the best of it from Iberostar.  I have been in your situation before -- at Lifestyle Restort.

@poonyd gave you solid advice about the Christmas season. The majority of mongers are married or in committed relationships and simply can't get away during Christmas week. That means the action will be slow at Blackbeards. However, there are always some girls around. As @poonyd suggested, you should book a room by the day and not hourly. I tried hourly the first time I visited Blackbeards while staying at Lifestyles Resort, and the entire experience of room+chica was about the same price as if I were staying overnight.

I would suggest making a reservation for your first day only and seeing how you like Blackbeards. There should be plenty of room availability that week, and by booking only the first day you won't be on the hook for additional days.  I also suggest you do some research and find a driver who can shuttle you from your resort to Blackbeards and back. That's what I did when I was at Lifestyles. The driver would pick me up at the resort, drop me at Blackbeards, and then came back 2-3 hours later to pick me up. Worked like a charm. No one in my travel group ever knew what I was up to.

Holler if you have more questions.

Yup. As fuente said if you get one good driver who doesn't seem to be ripping you off too badly stick with him. Unfortunately they pretty much all will try to get you because you are a tourist. You can also try Uber. I used it a little bit back in July but it's a little bit hit and miss on the north coast. If you do get a good Uber driver who doesn't pull the usual bullshit of turning his phone off and all the other little tricks and scams get his WhatsApp and see if you can work out a deal with him

Thanks everyone, this is great info.
FML if Sosua is going to be dead when I'm planning to be there. Just to clarify, is it dead only Christmas week or even the week before Christmas (my plan is week before Christmas)? I have seen some conflicting info as I searched more this morning. Seems like its dead one or two days before and after Christmas, but busy if you go 4 or 5 days before as the chicas are trying to make some money last minute?

The plan is for Dec 19-24. So I would have the nights of Wed 12/19, Thu 12/20, Fri 12/21, Sat 12/22, and Sun 12/23 to chill in Sosua.
If even Wed, Thu, Fri (12/19 - 12/21) are lit or semi-lit and I can get even a couple days the experience of all the the tourists and all the girls partying, then I would be good.

What do y'all think? If Sosua will be slow even in the 12/19-12/21 time frame then I may need to re-assess this trip and maybe try to postpone a few weeks, since I can't get back down to DR that often and need to make it count.

No need to worry. There will be chicas there for all of your days. The number of guys around will slow down as Christmas approaches. But who cares about them, right? You'll have all the chica action you can handle for all of your nights. Trust me. You just won't have as much camaraderie with other guys as you would on different dates. our

If camaraderie with the other guys is important to you, then yeah, switch your dates to another time. But if you just want to smash sweet young pussy, then your dates are definitely OK.

One thing you can do is shoot Blackbeards an email about your concerns for the Christmas week. Ask about the level of activity, number of girls, etc., for your dates. They will give you an honest answer. If I were in your shoes I definitely would not be canceling my dates.

Enjoy

Another factor with Blackbeard's for Christmas and New Year's is that chicas are required to work. Not to say there won't also be plenty in Sosua, but unlike in Sosua it is not solely dependent on whether the chicas need pesos. I have gotten some damn sad texts from BBs chicas I know complaining about having to work not only Christmas shifts but then getting required to take a TLN (all night session) for one or both of the holidays. I have also seen it happen in person during Hurricane Maria last year when management required a bunch of chicas to stay over one night so that they would be available in the morning for the day shift. Blackbeards's MUST get the chicas there, the business model simply does not work without chicas. As far as other guests go, there are plenty of guys who visit for the holidays. For an unattached guy, who likely has the time off anyway, what a better way to get out of the cold and beat down the holiday blues?

Sosua will be a dead during Christmas because most of those chicas are with their families.

Yes plenty of chicas go home but plenty live close by. The days right before Christmas are crunch time and chicas who haven't made the money they need will be working hard until the day before especially the ones who live close.

Things are going to be more expensive than they need to be because can either wife up and pay for them to come to Iberostar or travel to another place like Blackbeards or Sosua and pay for another room.

That night of Sunday the 23rd will probably be dead. That's probably the only one the days you listed that will be though. I think you will definitely do alright that Friday and Saturday night in sosua but I would probably book blackbeards for Sunday.

The only chicas you will see during Christmas are those " Helter skelter" looking bitches....if you decide to go, you will see for yourself.
