Walk to the beach.  Don't take a motococho. On your walk there you will run into fishing charters, bikes, 4 wheelers and all that other adrenaline options.

Check out cabarete also if you get a chance.

Do NOT go to Field of Dreams for the Wet T-Shirt "Contest". It lasts for literally two minutes and is just some of the girls putting water on their white t-shirts and walking around for a couple of minutes....boring as hell.

I think you may have meant the Bikini Contest which is a completely different story and is a Must Do event. You can even be a Judge if you dare.

RE: BLACKBEARDS - I like the place for a pre- or post-Sosua stop ... but the main event is Sosua.

Don't just go over there.  It's not a cheap taxi ride and the taxi mafia have their territories.  Some can't get into the Costambar ... the "gated community" in which Blackbeards is located.

They run a pretty full occupancy year-round, so the chances are iffy you could get a short-term room.  And, except for the weekend events, it's slow during the weekday.  Some like that pace, other's don't.  YMMV.

You're right about the taxis there. BUT, if you walk your ass down to the motoconcho stand around the corner from BB's, hand the guy 30 pesos, you will be on the highway. wait for and hop a guagua (public van) for 40 pesos to carro publico, you're on your way CHEAP. get into POP, and catch Carro Publico from POP to Sosua for another 40 pesos. It aint pretty, but my dollars are still in my pocket. Note.. you could give the moto 100 pesos and he will take you straight to carro publico stand in POP. EASY and CHEAP.
