All in the Family
« on: July 19, 2011, 10:28:02 PM »
I had just picked up a girlfriend in La Cienaga (a barrio between Sosua and Cabarete) and she said she wanted us to pick up her mom and give her a ride home since it was on the way. We had a couple of tall bottles of beer in the car and were getting a buzz on. While my girl was inside getting her mother after we arrived I started thinking that I should hide the beer as it was sitting on the front passenger seat. It was too late. They came out from nowhere and her mother got into the back seat. The girl was a good friend and I wanted to leave a good impression with her mom. We took off and my girl took a swig of the Presidente. I was hoping her mother would not notice or say anything. Ten seconds later her mother said to her daughter, 'Déjame tener algunos de que la cerveza!' or 'Let me have some of that beer!'.

I do not believe anyone has had a bad experience but do not let anyone tell you that you will be comfortable without knowing a good amount of spanish. They say something to you and you cannot respond is not a good feeling at all.

It's a couple of beers and it's her mother.  How much a couple beers cost you to show her mother a good time.  Nothing wrong with that. Beers only get warm when you hold them there.

I met a chica family and it was a great experience, they welcome you with open arms. They kind of had a little party. Yes you need to know some Spanish I didn't know any so it was very hard to comminiate but we all tired our best. Had a hell of a time. Camp life is a lot different many people in campo if not all speak no English but my chica spoke well enough English to get me thru the 2 days we were there. Just be prepared for cold showers and less than stellar bathroom. Embrace the True DR and you will have a blast.

Went to La Union across from the Airport to meet my girls Family. Brought food and they cooked for me. I was treated like a King. Had a great time. Went back a second night. The mom was a hottie too. The second night I had so much fun hanging with the family. Definitely a great experience.

Third that...For me it's a great experience. More natural...but keep that head srewed on tightly cuz the game can come from there too. We are rich to them and a possible savior from poverty.  Cool IFFF u find the right chica. Odds better playing the powerball.

I always have to laugh...But I really do not know the type chicas/women that some meet...But no game has ever been played, no family has hit me up for money...They always give all that they have in my experience, respect, food, their home...It is an honor to them that you have come to visit their home, no more no less...I have been to several barrios for visits and stays...I keep hitting the powerball lol...
