When you are in a Third World country you gotta keep your head on a swivel.

Maybe the dudes were being cautious because they had some shit like this run on them before...

This story shows why it's always important to have multiple options for cash when traveling internationally. There are a number of things you can do:

-- Carry a couple debit cards with different banks. Make sure they're good to use in the DR and contact your bank before you leave to double confirm and let them know your travel dates.
-- Take a credit card.
-- Before you leave, if you want to be ultra safe, wire yourself some money via Western Union for pickup in Sosua. Just a few bucks in case of an extreme emergency.
-- Keep a stash of pesos that's separate from your daily living and chica expenses. I have a brown envelope with 5000 pesos in it. I travel to the DR with that 5K and bring it home on the return -- unless there is an emergency. When it's time for the next trip I grab that same 5K and take it back to the dR.

The good thing is that usually nothing happens, but it is always good to have options.

Women need a reason to have sex. Men just need a place. Sosua will do just fine.

I ask that question because I was the American. My last trip in April went like shit!! First I find out the hard way my debit card won't work there. Every visit before I took cash and I didn't think to call my card's bank to say I would be using it out of the country, lesson learned the hard way. Second, it's the first time I used AA, normally I use Spirit out of ATL, didn't know they had a baggage fee to come back also. $25 going $30 coming back. Was able to get $500 wired to me for a 5day 4night stay in Sosua, shit gonna be tough. I made it work tho stayed at Europa for the first time, $168 for 4 nights and I was able to play with 5 chicas with 2 TLN so it wasn't that bad. Shit got crazy on my to get home, I had $36usd and almost 200pesos. $25 for the taxi to the airport leaves $11 and then I find out about the $30 return bag fare. Shiiittt!!! What am I gonna do? I see 2 brothers, I ask are they flying into Charlotte and they said they were. So I explain my dilemma to them and offer to let them hold my Gold chain and Cross medallion for $20 til we get there and I straighten out my card. They said "we fucked up too" to wit I knew they thought I was running game. First: If an American is out of the country trying to run game for $20 then I will fall for it because I don't mind helping people if I can. Second: If someone offers you something of much greater value then what they're asking for, then maybe they are in trouble. Third and final: Shout out to Rene the taxi driver, cause this man drove back to the airport to loan me $20 to get my bags back home with me. I got to Charlotte and got my card straight, seen those 2 nicca's walking to another gate and wanted to show them I wasn't running game, but instead said to myself " Fuck them Nicca's". Sent Rene $50 the next day and he sent me a few naked pics of some bad bitches to meet on my return in September. I wrote all that to say every Nicca ain't about gaming on people, especially when you're in another country. If a Nicca can't afford $20 what the fuck you doing away from home? I'm Just Sayin
Rene the coolest driver in Sosua.....good people!

I always set aside $75 in luggage , so if everything goes south and I bust my budget I have enough to get back to an Atm in airport in states. I carry Pal Pal debit card for use there, 1 airline card that I am flying on and back up atm card only to be used in states or emergency.

I opened a Charles Schwab account for the single purchase of ATM global access and no exchange or ATM fees. Used it on my recent trip to Colombia and it work great.  I will be doing the same for the DR now.

Smh! Never fly Spirit! .... NEVER!  Also a tip my grand pops told me... never leave your house  w/o $100 in your pocket! Now don’t take this to the extreme but he was basically saying if your going out or traveling ... if you don’t have $100 then stay home! But I’m glad it worked out and if we crossed paths I would of blessed you with $20. Funny how these ballers can give a whore $40 but can’t help a nigga out

After Reading this thread, I just sealed the deal on doing a Pawn shop here.... If you ever read prior, Americans run alot of game so I can see how people were skeptical.

@blklouky  Great advice.  I was going to mention this too.  My daughter spent 4 months in Italy for college and she did the same thing.  I ended up sending her cash via Venmo so that she could give me Euros.

You could have Western Union yourself some money using WI-FI on the WU app. 5 days was enough time to make it to Western Union.
Or send money share to a trusted repeat chica will do in a pinch !

Absolutely, the amount depends on the situation. Just convince me you are a citizen of the first world who is stuck for funds in a 3rd world country and I will gladly help. Not even a question.

The bottom line is I am happy to help a fellow traveller and I'm just not that worried about small sums of money. I've never been stuck travelling and doubt I ever would be given the type of person I am. I think almost everyone is helpful to a stranger in need so long as they're convinced they're not being scammed.
