1 Bag or 2 ... How do you like to pack?
« on: July 14, 2016, 11:38:46 AM »
I looked for this thread...didn't find it but I do know some have mentioned similar suggestions and recommendations in their trip reports. Vets chime in on the best do's and don't from past experience.  Especially when bringing gifts...lol

It really is a matter of how long your trip is and how you care to dress. I try to pack 2 polos for every shorts I bring and 2 shirts for the pants, also matter how much personal hygiene products bring. I spend a lot time on beach so bring lotion and sunscreen, and off in a checked bag going then gate check it on way back. I pack any gift in my checked back in middle of clothes so less chance of them going thru it

I'' the worst at packing.  Most of my trips this year has been 4 days, I tried on two occasions to only take care on and both times I couldn't. One problem is a like to bring a lot of personal hygiene stuff such as specific lotion, soap, -'d other stuff. 'Pat aren't the 3oz, so I need a suitcase. Another reason is I also always pack a bottle of ciroc in my bag, which I'm not really sure why, because I read you can get it either T duty free or when you're in town. Lastly, I'm just an over packer. I bring multiple pairs of sneakers and too many clothes. One of these trips I will get it down to just a carry on.

I'm an over packer myself I usually roll with 2 check in bags with multiple, shoes, shirts, etc I take my electronics with me on my carry-on. And bring a spare duffle for the liqour I bring back. Sometimes you make out even  if you fly first class then your check in luggage is free
People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer, but yeah, I'm thinking I'm back.

You can bring 6 bottles back without having to pay taxes on them. My boy had a problem when we bought stuff at duty free and they didn't seal the bag with the red tape properly so TSA snatched them up. But I've never had any problems in my 6 trips this year. Usually bring 4 bottles back

Only a problem one time with liquor. I flew into Newark with a case of white Jenny still in the box, they stopped me at customs and weighed every bottle then charged me like $55 tax, I was bring it back for my. Eighbir so I wasn't mad at the coat, but it literally took 30 plus mins for them to locate a cashier to take the money. The customs guy basically said if the box was in my suitcase they wouldn't have said anything.

If your staying for more than 7 days they have a cleaners in town that will wash your clothes with next day service. The clothes smell fresh, are ironed and clean. This can cut down on they amount of clothes you bring. On long trips I normally hit them up every 5 days.

I'm not  certain about the address .... but its one block from Baileys restaurant, past the small park and towards Victorian House.
