Daughter's inlaws from Idaho visited them in Wyoming about 10 days ago. Upon return to Idaho tested positive. The virus is now working it's way thru my family. Three of them have tested positive. Young and healthy, if you have risk factors it can kill you. Country folks thought they were safe. Nope, colder weather driving them indoors. Thanksgiving canceled.

My advice is postpone holidays until March or April when 70% have been vaccinated.

It's just a matter of time until Sosua becomes a hotspot. Hope I'm wrong.

More than half the population will not even take the vaccine, including me, but I agree with your synopsis of staying home

oh the vaccine they rushing to get out ? lol good luck folks. i'll rely on the human body which was designed to fight off infection. that vaccination will be a shitstorm.

While you guys "let the human body fight off the infection" I will be the first dude in line to get my vaccination. Week in a hospital is NOT on my Things To Do List. Lol

NS

I won't be the first, but I will definitely get the vaccine.  It's better to train the human body to fight of infections with a vaccine, because when the real deal infects you, it has the training and memory to fight it off.

Medicine is far better than it was 60 years ago.  Hell, it's far better than it was 6 years ago.  At first, I was apprehensive about taking the vaccine.  Now, after learning more about how vaccines are produced, I have no problem taking it once it arrives.

I can see it pretty much being a requirement to get the vaccination if you want to be able to travel to many of these countries internationally.

No proof of vaccination and no admission into the country

The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, requested a new state of emergency for 45 days from the National Congress, to control the effects of the new coronavirus pandemic in the country.

President Abinader's request was deposited in the Chamber of Deputies this day, as this newspaper has been able to confirm.

This December 3, the current state of emergency expires, approved by the National Congress for 45 days.

The Dominican Republic has lived under states of emergency to contain the pandemic since last March 18, when then-President Danilo Medina asked the National Congress and it was approved for 25 days.

The presidential request is expected to be known in the session of the Chamber of Deputies scheduled for this Wednesday, November 25.

If approved, Dominicans would live under a state of emergency until 2021.

 PLD

This morning, the spokesperson for the deputies of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Gustavo Sánchez, announced that they would be in a position to approve a new request for a state of emergency, if President Abinader requested it, which has already happened.

Sánchez expressed that they will begin their duties as an opposition party upon completion of the first 100 days of government, but insisted that the PLD are "aware" of the crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In that sense, he said that if a new request to extend the state of emergency reaches the National Congress, it would be accepted by the legislators of that political organization.

You do understand a negative test is only good until you are exposed... which could be while you are waiting for the results. Take the shot.

I'm a DR veteran........BUT, have never been for NYE.  Now that Covid is here, does anyone have any suggestions for SOSUA for NYE?

Even, in the best of times Sosua wasn't a good place to go during NYE.  The town was usually dead.  The out of town chicas would go home and the locals went to parties.  There would be a smattering of scrubs in town but that's it.  The big party was on the beach in Cabarate.  If you had a favorite you like spending time with then you would lock her in and get a spot in Cabarete and party with her there.  Not sure if it is possible with social distancing because it attracts a large crowd.  This year, no idea how it will pan out.  Going right before the holidays is great time but during the holidays it is slim pickings.

Is it actually only NYE or the whole Christmas period that is pretty much dead? I was thinking about coming for 10 days from the 25 of Dec until the 3 or 4 or January, but reading this I am starting to reconsider.

I stand corrected. I looked into it and yes that is what they are looking at doing.

It begins

It makes sense given that's how the virus became conflagration across the globe.

The entire period.  The weeks leading up to Christmas are great.  Chicks want to make that holiday money but during that period (Christmas to New Years) it is going to be dire.  Honestly, it is the worst time to go to Sosua.
