I still go out occasionally here in LA to black dance clubs. The Hip Hop music featured mostly in Sosua is sparingly played in those clubs because it's not dance music. Basically it's what guys who don't club listen to while smoking weed in their bedrooms. If there was a large contingent of sisters there they'd put a stop to that shit. It's gotten to the point where I can't sit inside the casino disco for more than a few minutes before the sound of that shit forces me to flee. When I first came to Sosua you had mostly Domincan music being played with a reggae, dance, calypso, techno, and some straight African tribal shit. People actually danced and had a good time. Now it's pretty much a strip club sonic vibe in the non-Dominican spots which simply is not my thing.

No other people than Americans would actually go to an American style strip club. Europeans and Canadians have a different understanding of what a strip club is and should provide as entertainment. Which basically leaves the black mongers as sole potential customers.
The whole scene has really changed. There are now lots of families (white, dominicans and mixed) on the beach and just in the middle of it (around mofong king) the black mongers and chicas. It is what is and yet we can still have fun!

The part that really gets me thinking is "why fly in American women". Never been to a strip club in or around Sosua nor would I think that I would frequent one if it was available but why American women. Don't most guys go to DR, Colombia, Brazil, etc... to get away from Americanized stuff including women. If I were to open strip club in Sosua I would think at the very least I would transport some fine Santo Domingo chicas to dance there, not American women. The majority of the attendees are 30-something and 40-something college graduates and working professionals. The promoter of the event is an African-American, former IBM executive and his son is a 30-something HBCU graduate and also a working professional.

That's how it used to be. A group did one last May in June in Sosua at and they used both Ahnvee and Casa Marina....like 300 of em. They doing another one this year in May...
