Transport (Santiago to Puerto Plata) for Sept
« on: September 10, 2021, 12:32:48 AM »
Hello all - I was last in DR 4-5 years ago.. I had nice driver for years who used to pick me up at Santiago, but he moved to the US and I lost his contact. Sometimes he would drive me around in Santiago and hook me up with college girls and take me to cabanas.

Anyone have a guy like that? I want to go to DR next week  - Sept 14th or 15th.

How much does he charge for a 1-way airport transfer?

Just take the Metro bus. Same amount of travel time for 195 pesos.

My driver's name is Renee -- 809-399-1735. Highly professional. He charges about $90 US for runs to/from Santiago. He's always on time. If you really want to be spoon fed, he keeps pictures of top talent chicas on his phone and can facilitate an introduction. The Metro Bus is definitely a cheaper alternative. It's roughly a $25 cab ride from the airport, and then you sit around for roughly 30-60 minutes for the the next bus. Pro tip: They really crank the AC on the bus. Wear long pants and bring a sweatshirt. The first time I took the bus I almost froze my ass off. lol

And there's the option of renting at the airport or across the street from the airport for $40bucks a day and driving yourself. I will cast a dark patroenus chofferion spell on you to enable you to follow the signs to puerto plata and down into Sosua and follow the sign back to Santiago and down to the airport when its time to return.

👆🏽👆🏽🤣 send that!

So... My go to driver just went up on their price. I used to pay 75$ from STI to POP through DSSR. I hit the pops up the other day & he told me it's $120 now.

In short, I need a new connect 🤷🏽‍♂️

Just used my guy Daniel two days ago. Paid 4000 pesos from Puerto Plata. He knows English and works the cruise ships, so preplanning is needed.

In all fairness, I usually have two people with me. I told him it would be 5 or 6 people & that's what he quoted me 🤷🏽‍♂️

He see I ain't respond, so we'll see if he reach back and lower it lol

A lot of companies charge more because they can.  Most companies in the world are taking advantage and upping prices even if they don't need to.

Don't they all use propane down there?  (See that tank in the trunk when you're putting your suitcase in there) Has the price of propane really gone up compared to a year ago?  Sure, there are other business costs that may have gone up, but it feels like price gauging.  I could be wrong.

I tried DSSR once, wasn't impressed.  Prices were $20 more than advertised, then no water and beer as promised.  If they just told me the price and what I'd get, no problem but false advertising gets on my nerves.
