Yup, I saw the 'for sale' being pasted in Facebook and other forums. Not sure if it went through yet

It just went up for sale in June.
350,000 but that is for the business only as they do not own the building
They might find a sucker at that price but I certainly would not pay that and not own the building.

You might be surprised just how many places are for sale and you will actually own real estate

El Choco  890K plus 100k if you want  the business
El Rancho Hotel 998K
Dolci Sapori.   990K   Business and hotel which I never realized there was a hotel there
Even Sosua Inn and Bailee  is for sale at a multimillion dollar price point.

The price of real estate has sky rocketed in the DR as well and perhaps people are looking to cash in.
But the writing is clearly on the wall and the future in Sosua perhaps may be in for some tough times.

Make dollars, spend pesos.

$350K for the Jolly Roger may be a fair price. a 20 year lease and a track record of increasing revenues and a $150K+ net... Sounds good. But... I doubt those three things exist in that business.

Yes I find it highly unlikely any of those things exist
They have actually been for sale at least since July 2023.  At that time the selling price was 399K and now its 350K

Their primary customer base are snow birds so for 5-6 months out of the year it might look busy but the rest of the year is crickets.
It often looks busy but you will also notice that they are hanging out and playing bingo etc.
The food is average at best and even though the prices are decent that also means the margins are likely pretty thin and thus they very likely are not generating the profits that one might think

The equipment and inventory probably not even worth 50,000 so the goodwill of 300K doesn't seem practical thus likely why it has not sold in at least a year.

They use the excuse of wanting to retire but that just means they are tired of working their ass off for little in return.  They also can see what's happening in Sosua and want to get out just like many of the other business owners.

The powers that be continue to alienate the current customer base thinking that with them gone the "regular tourists" will flock there but the hard truth is Sosua is a low end Carribbean destination that really doesn't have a whole lot to offer other than a easy fishbowl for putas.

Low end visitors will continue to be the norm in Sosua. Hotel Coco, Mary Rose etc @ $25 a night, snow bird apts at $500 a month, these folks are careful to stretch the dollar.

I was hanging at Flips one afternoon and there was a steady stream of folks coming to get their happy hour drinks in to-go cups. I had a peek where they were coming from and they were sitting in the Check Point bar closer to Playero but the drinks were $.10 pesos cheaper at Flips so they bought them there!

I think there is some money to be made on the North Coast, possibly even in hospitality, but fighting it out with 2 x 1 drink specials ain't it.

82 days till retirement, then a couple of months to tidy up loose ends before I end up in DR next year, but no way I will be opening a bar!

Congrats on the retirement

Way more fun enjoying yourself in your retirement than taking on the headaches of a business that would do nothing but strap you down and shorten your life with the headaches it would cause not to mention drain your pocketbook.

Choose instead to travel on your terms and chase all that fine pussy that interests you and live life to the fullest.

Not a long shot, it can and has been done. Just has to be discreet most wouldn't want to lose their employment. Butter them up first couple days, flirt subtly and tip for their services. Some may not want to attempt it on site but may be willing to hit a cabana.
