The average chica just wants dinero for sure. Regular GF likes little gifts, nothing expensive just quality, because most of what they can afford is Chinese crap. I tried to break this down in previous threads that toto price has gone up for people who make USD, but not as astronomical as people tend to portray here. You can get decent toto for 50 USD (3000 pesos) today, and sometimes less if you move to a lower tier, compounded with the fact that inflation in DR on staples has gone up. There's always a gringo tax, because their men can get it for free, so I'm not paying attention to local fluctuations because it's their home court, although you want it as close to free as possible.

There's a balance though and I totally understand the other side about keeping prices in line, and people who argue this have valid points. Revenge travel, pandemic stimulus, western men thirst, western women standards, remote work, cats who got quickly wealthy off stocks/bitcoin, and most importantly IGNORANCE OF THE MARKET made the current environments that used to cater to gringos see significant price increases. The solution? Don't go to where the gringos go OR become a better negotiator if you frequent the hot spots.

Personally? I can't control what other people pay, so I set my limit and stick to it. I do have to walk away from great talent; however, I've already built up a decent roster or I go without if I don't find what I want. Learning to walk away from toto can be challenging but can save your wallet in the short and long time.
