Will be in sosua, but How to get to Las Terrenas
« on: July 14, 2021, 11:40:06 PM »
Hey, Will be making a return trip to sosua in september which I'm looking forward to. But I'm also interested in checking out las terrenas. Does anyone have any reliable info on bus transportation between these two spots. I've read about a mythical bus route where you're supposed to flag it down from the gas station or some random shit.  But I'm looking for something more concrete. Anyhelp is appreciated 🙏.

It’s legit. It’s 450 pesos and about 6hrs ride. It should pass over sosua around 1-2. If you want concrete catch it in puerto plata get there at 12:45-1:15pm. It’s next to a maximo store to the right of the stand.

OK, very helpful. A lot of the info I saw online was7 to 10 years old. Does anyone have contact info, the name of the company or guy who organizes this?
Thanks again!

Terminal asotrapusa. They have a Facebook page. But as for number it’s 1 809 240 5302. Not sure if it’s the same number but the ad says it leaves POP at 1:15 which is somewhat accurate. It leaves Las Terrenas to Sosua/POP at 6-620am. I think it’s only one bus each way per day at the moment

It's not even a bus ... it's a van almost like guagua .... one of my friends did it a couple years ago ... he says it was a "folkloric" experience at most ...

Very much true but that’s his only way directly to Las Terrenas, via but like thing he described. They do have a caribetour like bus that leaves Puerto Plata but it goes to Samana. He’d have to get off in El Limon, Sanchez or Samana and work his way to Las Terrenas and it’s less than an hour but that total trip would be about 7-9hours, but cost less than 750 peso. Or he has to rent a car or drop 100$+ for a private car one way

Buddyb, if you can get a flight to Samana Int. (Arroyo Barril Airport) it's only about 45min. by car to Las terrenas.

The correct answer is rent a car. The coast road between Sosua and Nagua is like a Caribbean cliche, miles of empty palm lined beach, and the toll road from Nagua to Las Terrenas is stunning. Coming back there is a mountain road to Samana. A few years ago I stayed on an AirBNB 40' sailboat in Puerto Bahia Marina with full use of the Bannister Hotel which is a very nice property. It's worth seeing another part of the country.

I took the trip this March to go whale watching so if he wants to go to LT, there is a large Guagua he can still take to do it directly. But there’s no caribetour quality bus to Las Terrenas, it’s gonna take you to Samana and you’d have to work your way back to LT.

This is a small part of the toll road to Las Terrenas I filmed in 2017.
If you decide to rent a car, pay the toll and take that road ... it's really worth it.

Yes.  But that's only the correct answer for folks that drive (or are willing to drive) there.  Most tourists aren't gonna do that....and i can't blame them.

That one is closer to $500, it's limited access. The other toll roads you end up paying $50-$100 two or three times over the course of your trip.
