There are just not enough dudes to support all those businesses and there is no local market to sustain them when the dudes aren't there.  Not mention that the success of your business depends on whim of the chicas.  If they won't go to your spot neither will the dudes.
The standard N.A. business models do not work well in DR.

The main thing is the demographic in Sosua. I started thinking about the possibility of doing business in SDQ, then STI, then... POP!!! Then i remembered the absolutely clueless muppet that opened the hot dog place over Miami Bar. Whatever happened to him after the space was repossessed?

NEW SPOT!

Just saw a facebook ad for the space at the end of Pedro by the park last known as Eldorado. Operated by Casa Coco villas who host the AirBNB up in Casa Linda. They had taken over the space that was Que lo Que by Pyramid Plaza last year.

I think it's a good move and a good thing for village. It will bring more people down that end of the road. The weekend buffets will be a hit for the folks who run in groups, and I have long been a fan of Sunday brunch. What remains to be seen will be how they handle the chicas. It would be great to have an alternative to Bailees.

There are some photos on the profile. It's a big place. Fooz ball and pool tables upstairs, garden bar out back, tables outside at the front. I think they have done as good a job as anyone could with that space. I hope they do well.

It's always going to be hard to pull people away from the strip, just one new spot will never do it.
