Fortunately, no charge for me to cancel my current air or hotel reservations.  Assuming how Covid is spreading I would think nationwide restrictions will happen on the 9th and Puerto Plata will join the stricter curfews.

Thoughts on the situation?

"Papi's thoughts..." and if you're really concerned just exercise the universal health precautions.  So you can enjoy yourselves while you're there.

I've been going to the Su throughout the pandemic and just returned from a trip this past weekend. The way it's currently set up, a new curfew, really wont affect your experience. There are no more all night parties or tons of chicks available 24/7, but if you collect numbers, and hit the usual spots, you won't have an issue finding company.

You said the key word "assuming".    We are advised of truths by the media on certain things, and we are also hoodwinked and bamboozled by the media on certain things.   I personally dont know how Covid is spreading one way or the other in the DR.   Most of what I read or hear is hearsay.   Meant to be believed, but not meant to be proved/verified.

Here on the north coast,  or in Santo Domingo.    All I know is whatever is reported in the media.  And quite frankly,  I dont believe everything I have read or heard about how Covid is supposedly affecting citizens and/or tourists/expats throughout this whole country.

I've spent the entire last 15 months and havent seen any obvious problems or concerns of people dying from Covid.   Some people I knew had it, and got over it.   Look at how everyone operates in Sosua?   Out and about,  at the beach, at the bars/ restaurants, massage parlors, the salon etc.   People arent dropping like flies or getting sick in any noticeable way.     Most of us see the same people come and go in Sosua, day in and day out.    So are the people here on the north coast supposed to be scared about what is supposedly going on in the south coast?

I strongly believe if I spent the last 15 months in Santo Domingo,  I would feel the same way about the effect Covid has there as I do here.   That is , what were getting are reports to believe but no real evidence.   Ive read some folks claim that people in SD are all up on top of each other.   Well if being all up on top of each other is all we need to assume people are contracting Covid in record numbers,  then the thousands of people that have visited Sosua, the hotels, beaches , restaurants, resorts, supermarkets, should all have keeled over by now from Covid.

We are trained to ridicule and shame behavior that at one time was normal behavior.   The people in the south coast know their situation better than we do.    Many see the same people day in and day out.  And they dont look at themselves in the negative way that the media has painted them to be.   They are living their normal reckless life.   Santo Domingo is being used as a model to control the masses.

Something is weird to me about how we make believe people are being more responsible.      You go to a restaurant.  Come in with your mask on.  They take your temperature.   You go sit down, and you take your mask off,  and it stays off the entire time you are there.   But you are being responsible, right?  So there is no way anyone can spread the virus in Sosua, the same way in Santo Domingo?

In a nut shell,  if you are coming to Sosua for vacation,  just bring your ass here and pretend like the rest of us that you are protecting yourself against some deadly virus by wearing a mask and maintaining 6 feet distance from others.   Fist and elbow bumping, leg taps and all the rest of the pretense precautions were all taking.    And when you get to the beach, and see nobody wearing a mask.   No temperature being taken,  no social distancing etc,  ask yourself why you are seeing the same people day in and day out on every vacation and the next 10 vacations?   And nobody keeled over and died, and neither did you.

If one goes to the stats website,  the amount of people that was reported to have recovered from Covid is way more than those that supposedly died.   Way more.   And thats only the ones that were reported.   We have to figure that thousands of people went through a Covid phase , recovered but was never added to any data base.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/dominican-republic/

After reviewing that link on the alleged stats for the DR,  I dont even pay attention to the amount of cases.   Because once they report a case, they do not reduce cases even if people recovered.   But look at the stats on the amount of people that allegedly died compared to the amount of known recoveries?    And I dont believe every death case was only due to Covid.

Like they try to make us believe in the US.  I believe the DR is funded by the US and other countries (China ).   The more cases they can make up, the more they make the dire need for help ,  the more funding and equipment that can be justified in getting from those with a vested interest in this country.    The US hospitals were doing the same thing.   Cases meant money to those places.   So they had/have a vested interested in boosting the numbers and juking the stats.

Gotta know how to play the game.  Make policies, make states of emergencies, paint an ugly picture, close businesses, ruin the economy,  do whatever you need to do,  to get that back door funding that makes up for the countries civilian or professional losses.    When the time is right,  piece meal the country back together again with morsels of liberties and hope.   Ya'll gotta know that the curfew hours that were made up for us,  had no impact on anything.  It was just another aspect of us pretending that we were doing something responsible.   And we bought it, hook , line and sinker.

From 10pm until 5am,  what difference does that make in terms of protecting people from a virus?   More people are active and intermingling during daytime hours.   It was just some made up shit.   It means nothing.   Neither does what they are doing now in terms of curfew distribution throughout the DR.   Whats so significant about June 2 to june 9th.   And no alcohol sales during certain hours etc?

Rant O meter is done.   :'(

Where you stand on the issue depends on where you sit.  The words enough, some, many , to whom it applies to, does not mean ALL of any people, places or things.  If you cant, dont or wont learn from friends, family or your peers, dont worry the locals will teach you, and you will learn the hard way.

Great advice Murano,  I agree with much of what you said and believe they may be searching for help aid, etc...  I've read that they have had trouble getting vaccines, so I can see how they may be playing the game to get aid.   I came in April and loved it, the curfew as it is now leaves me plenty of time for day activities and enough time to hunt at night,  if needed go to an after hours location.

Im not worried about my health when traveling to DR, I've had the virus and fully vaccinated.  I was more worried with getting here and having a big shift in the curfew on my day 2 (June 9th).

I hear you bruh.   The thing is,  the govt and the media has been consistently inconsistent.   We dont know what the Govt is going to do until it actually happens.   Look at what happened in less than 2 weeks?   Several policy changes were made and reported.  One contradicting the other.   One more ambiguous than the other.    So that leaves most of us unsure of what to believe, even if it is in writing or posted publicly.

Odd you cant change the flight based on Covid issues. And shitty the hotel wont make a change, but i guess thats why they offer the low rate, pay in advance no change deal.

Hopefully if there is any change in the curfew for your trip, it wont be too drastic. Good luck.

I thought that in the beginning, but I still accomplish everything I want to do. Prior COVID, Im starting the day at the beach around 11 and walking in the room at 3-4A with a chica, getting minimal sleep before heading to the beach and doing some version of that night again. Now, shit is basically over around midnight. Some variations of Ahnvee or Copa Cabana being open late, but no reason to be out past 11-12ish. I'm still doing everything I used to but I'm getting a good night's sleep now. In terms of the numbers of chics, most people have stories of chicas being on the block all day everyday in high numbers before going to the beach or congregating at one of the bars, before Classicos, then the casino; litterally hundreds at all times of the day. now, They're there, but the numbers of them being on the street reduced significantly before COVID due to the crackdowns. Thhat being said, as opposed to "tons" they'll still be in "good numbers" after 5 at the usual bars, Beach in the day. Everything changes, just have to shift gears.

Well today is the 11th and businesses can be open until 9pm and people can be out until midnight. I think the only restriction is alcohol, which you can go to the store and stock up on anything you want in the morning and enjoy it in your spot without restriction. Anyone that decides not to visit based on these restrictions, should stay home. Your personal safety comes first.  It's not worth the risk.

Today is Friday June 11th, 2021.  I believe the curfew for businesses in the Puerto Plata province which includes Sosua can be open until 10PM,  not 9PM?    Mon- Fri.   Sat and Sun is when the business curfew is at 9pm.

And the alcohol restriction applies at 3pm country wide.   FWIW, guys should not assume that they can bring their own alcohol to any venue to drink after 3pm.   At the beach or anywhere else.   Or think they can nurse the drinks that they already bought from the bar/restaurant past 3pm.

The way the high ranking officials operated last Saturday,  they dont even want to see people consuming alcohol past 3pm.  No cups, no flasks.   The lower ranking officers that usually patrol the beach/town couldnt care less, but they are following orders from the higher ups.

There may be venues/individuals that are circumventing the alcohol ban,  but it's better for one to be boots on the ground to know where they are.

Anybody who is out drinking alcohol in PUBLIC in the DR after 3pm is a FOOL and deserves what comes from it. Its NOT worth it to break any curfew or current regulations in a 323rd world country when you can just go on your balcony with a nice tenderoni and drink  n party your ass off!!!

Matter of fact it may help now because the chicas love to drink and the only place they can drink is a hotel/condo...
