Coming to Sosua Next Week.
« on: August 04, 2021, 10:18:33 AM »
Coming to visit Sosua and staying at the Ahnvee Resort for a few days next week with some buddies. I’m brand new to DR so I’m wondering about some things so if anyone has the patience to answer some questions I appreciate it! We’re from miami and coming with one Spanish speaking friend. Please direct me to any posts this may have been answered we’re new here.

Logistics:

How safe and far is the drive from the airport in Santiago to Sosua in the overnight hours? We’ll be driving in the early early AM hours like 2AM and honestly not wanting to drive through mountains we rather avoid them from the Santiago airport to Sosua.

Money:

How is money there? ATM’s? Do we need to carry cash or does our debit cards etc can be transacted there?

How much money should we bring for a Full 3 day trip in USD?

Do we need to worry about pickpocketing etc? Any tips on what to bring? Satchels?

Is Kidnapping or robbery a thing in Sosua, Puerto plata and those areas?

Local Areas & Women:

Any areas we should avoid due to being dangerous?

How to approach women on the street for a good time?

Do we need to fully know Spanish to get around or can we get by with a translate app?

What’s the best places to eat and party that are safe as well?

What excursions or things to do while there?

Don’t know about this I fly into POP, but you will be traveling during curfew.

Money:

How is money there? ATM’s? Do we need to carry cash or does our debit cards etc can be transacted there?
Yes ATM’s, but a few stories of bank cards getting copied, so I bring my usd cash.

How much money should we bring for a Full 3 day trip in USD?  Well staying at Anhvee everything costs more including chicas.  Depends on how hard you go in the paint.  You’ll be paying cash for mostly everything so budget accordingly.  Your close to the big supermarket which has one of the better exchanges for Pesos.

Do we need to worry about pickpocketing etc? Any tips on what to bring? Satchels?  I’ve written on this, I have a money belt that has a stash spot on the inside, and a pack of gum with a false bottom that I stash money in.  That said didn’t have any attempts to have my pocket picked.

Is Kidnapping or robbery a thing in Sosua, Puerto plata and those areas?

Folks that dress flashy and wear fancy watches are a target for this, plus it gets them higher prices quoted for everything.  Dress modest and leave the jewelry at home.

Local Areas & Women:

Any areas we should avoid due to being dangerous?  Use your gut on this.

How to approach women on the street for a good time?  Simple just breakout phone and get WhatsApp number, they will immediately give it.  Also helps to negotiate through it using translator.  2500-3000 short time, 4k and up TLN (all night, two nuts, negotiate if you want more).

Do we need to fully know Spanish to get around or can we get by with a translate app?  Yes.

What’s the best places to eat and party that are safe as well?
Anhvee, kings, bailees, beach, and probably a ton of others people will suggest.

What excursions or things to do while there?
Atv’s, party boat, scuba, and so forth.

If it’s just a few days at Ahnvee, my guess is you stay on the complex and enjoy multiple partners. Prices will be much higher but you will be safe and neck deep in Pussy.

The answers to all your questions are on this board.

Read through the posted subjects no Spanish needed  in sosua  however about ten basic phrases will help. Your ace in the  hole is your buddy who speaks spainish  So your good there. As far as money do both ATM with a second back up ATM.  Notify your bank  dates of travel and destination. Bring enough cash the average is 200 usd for chicas booze and food not including  hotel.  .  CHICA PROOF YOUR ROOM  have secret hideing places for you cash divide it up into three differnt hideing spots. I was robbed by a 6 year trusted repeat chica   Dont trust no one  Chicas no. Albeit they wont rob you if your cash is hidden and you take precautions.  Dont  get slippy with money like I did.   Other vets can chime in safe travels guys !

There you go. You are covered.

One suggestion i might make after i answer your question, its about 2 hours STi to Sosua on the mountain route, add about 20 minutes if you are coming through Puerto Plata.

I would think about taking a van to and from the airport. You arrive late, a little tired, you very likely will be stopped in a roadblock as you are travelling in curfew time (you are permitted as you will have boarding passes and you can travel to/from an airport) do you really want to put Spanish speaking buddy to the test so soon after landing.

Also going home, what time is that return flight? Middle of the night? Got a designated driver?

Your Sosua car rental company will drop off and pick up a car at Ahnvee for you ( a car is very nice to have), maybe even arrange the driver.

Could just cut a little stress out of the trip.

$100 daily is NOT ENOUGH. Staying at Ahnvee on our first trip was a typical move made by newbies who end up getting taken advantage of by Ahnvee chicas.....bad move in my opinion.

Yes driving from Santiago to Sosua is VERY DANGEROUS....especially at night. They play Dominican road rules over there NOT American. Pickpocketing is real so don't walk around with more money than I expect to spend at that time or your passport!

Choose the chicas don't let them CHOOSE YOU and don't feel pressured to f--k the first hoe you see or any of them for that fact. Don't look desperate or STAR STRUCK when one says hola papi or baby I want you now. Act like you had a pretty female before and used to f--king them EVEN IF YOU AREN'T!!

Ahnvee is going to give you a wristband. Dont wear it, take it off and put it in your wallet.

If you're looking to party/smash more than 1 chica a day $200 USD is a good amount to bring.
Ahnvee, Kings, Playa Sosua, NYC Drink, the Casino and Copabana (late night food/drink) are all good spots.  Have fun / safe travels.
