I know some think that Puerto Plata Digital reports fake news - sure buddy:

PUERTO PLATA.- A National Police patrol arrested a woman in the tourist municipality of Sosúa who stole money from a foreigner.

The lady arrested for larceny is the named María Elena Francisco Javier (Fabiola), 36 years old, resident on the main street of the Maranatha sector.

According to the police report, said woman will be brought to justice for the crime she committed against the American citizen Ian Thomas Hicks.

When questioned, the “Fabiola” confessed that through carelessness she had stolen thousands of pesos from the aforementioned tourist's front pocket.

She said that the amount of money stolen from abroad was RD$3,000, which she consumed by drinking and gambling in a hotel casino on the night of October 31

Putas have been pickpocketing tourists for years  ::)
It's been said numerous times here to secure your money and valuables when walking on the strip and don't let women touch you especially when they are in groups ... it happens almost everyday.
3000DOP ... nothing to write about ... An illustrious member of this fine forum got got for much more than that  ::)

Yep that is the best advice I have been given when I started travelling 30 years ago: Never carry more money on you than the amount you can afford to lose (usually my budget for the day or the night)

Tug can you elaborate more on how much money you should carry? And what's the best way to carry money on you? Should I put it in my shoe or underwears to prevent getting pickpocketed? I'll be in Sosua for the first time ever in mid March.

Also any advice when it comes to taking money out of ATMs? And is there a specific one to go to? And operating hours of said ATM? Thanks Tug.
