The Haitians have more problems on the way in the next few days. Today the transportation mafia (Carrito Taxi , Gua Gua, etc.) in Santo Domingo voted on banding all Haitians ( legal/illegal) with using their members transport. They also have asked Santiago and Puerto Plata to join in the banding by Thursday until the border issues is resolved.

The moto conchos are not involved, however most Haitians know that the risk is greater to be stopped/ picked up, and deported while on a moto. My gardener has already contacted me this afternoon telling me that this Friday he will not be able to work as he fears the North Coast will be an issue for him to travel.

It is very short sighted of them to f**k up the Haitians, construction will grind to a halt. Spent 2&1/2 months in Punta Cana in the last year and new builds are every where. Rode the GUA GUA 5 miles 2x a week to Jumbo, passed at least 6 construction sites, 70-80% Haitian workers. There has always been a love, hate relationship with Haitians in DR. They hate them only because they were their X oppressors almost 200 yrs. but now the new government is using them as a scapegoat for their economic mismanagement troubles (theft). To me it is like the love hate thing in the U.S. with Mexican workers, they cry out "STOP THE MIGRANTS" but half the south west food production would die in the field if they had.Just saying ABSOLUTIST'S ARE WRONG, nothing is black or white.

The Haitians only had the Dominicans under their control for 22yrs not 200. The Spanish had a much longer control but I guess they are forgiven. Actually it was the Haitians that helped the Dominicans
fight against Spain as Spain tried to recolonize The Dominican Republic. It is what happened during those
22 yrs that  soured relations.

That's wild. Why woild they turn down paying customers?  Well like the last round ups you can count on poor planning and logistics to f--k up their deportation plan.

Yes and the DR is addicted to Cheap haitian labor I know people who will not build without them.

As far as farming and construction the fact that Haitians will live in the unfinished housing as it's being built and not having to commute to work will add tons of time and money on all new builds.

Not really sure why Abinder is doing this, all over the diversion of a single river.

Abinader is just using the river construction as an excuse to do what Dominicans have wanted all along: to get Haitians out of the country. My buddy and girl were just deported back to Haiti. The DR government has created a catch22 for Haitians. All legal Haitians need to renew their visas every month on the Haitian side of the border, with the border closed they can't do that. If their visa expires, they're deported.

Yes, they have to go every month to get the stamp in Haiti. Maybe renew wasn't the right word, but it is a monthly stamp to work in the DR. If there's another way around this catch22, I don't know about it. But, my small circle of Haitian friends and girls are back in Haiti.

The Dominican Border Patrol will if lucky work as well as the US border  patrol does. The majority of deported Haitians will be back soon.  Isn't this Abinder's last year in Office? There might be a full relaxation of the current policies but even if they aren't like I said the DR is addicted to Haitian workers ( not to mention the preferences of the "Canadian" Mongers who are addicted to Haitianas)

The issue is the massive theft or forced fire sales of all that Haitian owned property. Round ups don't cover furniture and TV's bought a lot of dominicans are gonna have a lot of extra stuff soon.

Finally there's rich Haitians. I knew this one Haitian american who was going to the Galleria with some aldermen (or whatever you call them)  from Port au Prince in town buying furniture for their offices.

How does the DR differentriate illegals that can be rounded up to wealthy Haitians trying to spend money in the DR?

Shit how do you differentriate dark skinned Dominicans especially ones on the DR/ Haitian border who live in rural conditions? They could get caught up in a round up too?

Shit is a mess and a good idea fairy situation run wild. My prediction is after a couple of round ups of low hanging beggers and street sellers shit will be over however the uncertaincy of the situation will traumatize Haitians legal and illegal to constantly look over their shoulders. Frankly I can see Haitian gangs taking root in the DR over this.
