Casa Valeria or Sosua Inn or New Garden Inn
« on: July 18, 2024, 09:18:42 AM »
This will be our second trip to Sosua, me and my buddy. Last time, he stayed in Hilltop Condos, right on the beach. Nice view but felt isolated down there. I’m a very heavy man and that short walk up the hill had me huffing and puffing. There’s nothing down there but Playa Alicia. It’s dark at night but 24 hr security on both sides of the street keeps it safe. We had a flooding event so not looking to stay there again.

The three in the title, Casa Valeria, Sosua Inn, New Garden, seem to be the three most mentioned in the most recent topics. The topics that cover these three, especially Sosua Inn, are getting dated, except for Casa Valeria.

I kind of like New Garden’s reputed hedonistic party atmosphere, although I also like to sleep. I’m almost 50 and I have to admit, the balcony at the ocean front condo was where I spent most of my time. I like nicer places. I don’t mind having a second room but did that last time and without service, even my short time pad got dirty.

Aside from Chicas, my goal this trip is to explore more of the town. Last time, my best was a non-working waitress in SD. She was a young and cute Haitian. I asked her for her number and she agreed to meet me later at my hotel. Room service, a movie she wanted to watch, and she was in my bed. Reluctant at first to take off the panties, but eventually did. The sweetest I had the whole trip. I tried to pay her but she was super offended. She did take the money. I saw her again on the way back, took her to the colonial district, back to the hotel, room service and movie, but this time no honey. She knew I was leaving the next day. Free cuddles and kisses though.

I wouldn’t mind staying off the strip to find more semi-pro Haitian sweetness. But I also don’t like walking too much especially up hills. So, have settled on these three.

Any opinions as to where to stay this time around?

Why not try Sea Breeze for a second pad, they are cheaper, usually have rooms available, the internet and power supply is usually uninterrupted and the cleaning is done regularly. It is a bit dated and the linen is a bit thin though.
Might not be as cheap as AirBnB but nowadays I am getting tired of the various charges tacked on there.
If you book directly with any of the above mentioned hotels (instead of using hotels.com/booking.com etc) you get cheaper rates too

I think I will dispense with the second pad and bring Chicas back to the same room. I’ll need to be more careful with my belongings but want to keep it simple this time. If I need a pad, I heard Hotel Central works and is 10$. We didn’t bring Chicas back to the condo last time and my buddy, without a pad, managed just fine. The girls seemed to always know where to go.

Should Sea Breeze be in the same list as the first 3? Casa Valeria seems the nicest, but maybe too tame? New Garden seems wild but in a good way? Sosua Inn, would I ever leave Bailey’s? I like being closer to the main drag than Bailey’s. Always got hustled or propositioned around Bailey’s by random dudes.

Sea Breeze is definitely not in the same tier as Casa Valeria. I would say one tier lower.
Bar Central rooms can be interesting, I saw youtuber review that but sadly I cannot find it any more amongst the zillions of videos of Sosua.

I think if you pay for at Central, it is only for once and not for the whole day but I have not used the facilities myself

Central is only a ST hotel.   A pump and dump kinda place It is not meant for staying overnight and you wouldn't want to stay there all night anyway since it's not that nice.

Casa Valeria was completely rebuilt in 2018.  It has 18 rooms and is next to the Old New Garden.  There will be more noise in this area.

Sea Breeze is an older hotel but the rooms were renovated a couple years ago.   The difference is it was not a complete rebuild like Casa Valeria so the rooms look a little older but the difference is negligible.   This hotel has 30 rooms and it will be a little quieter here.

The room cost at Sea Breeze will be a little less.

At New Garden it all depends on which rooms you end up in.   Some are still old and others across the road have been renovated and are nicer.  New Garden is much louder.

Sosua Inn probably has the nicest rooms but also the highest price.  You won't be stuck at Bailee's but you will have to deal with the increased chica traffic their.  You might think having a bunch of chicas right there might be a good thing but it will quickly get old since they will constantly be harassing you.

You will find over time that a hotel where you can get away from the chicas from time to time is a good thing.

You can break it up. You can stay a couple of days at Sosua Inn and choose one of the others for the remainder of your stay. You can have both the Activity and the peace.

I agree ! Not just the chicas but also the massage girls, the hustlers who want to get you girls, 'stuff' or just plain beg for 100 pesos and the charity cases.. I spent a day walking around in Puerto Plata and it was so peaceful to be left alone

On Sosua Inn/Bailee I only went there early for breakfast to avoid the creep cammers
