Yeah, she was one my teenage crush during the mid 80’s.

True story, I saw her coming out of the train station on 59th street and we talked for a few and she told me she was on her way to be in a movie called Fame at the performing arts high school in Manhattan.

She became my crush in the mid-70s when I saw her in this movie.   https://youtu.be/UbyUu_9nblg

When you get older, it becomes clearer than ever why they say "life is short."

I remember seeing this movie in the the late 80’s even though it came out in the 70’s.
The last seen in this movie was shot at 125st station #1 train, I grew up a station away at 137st. Makes me wonder what I was doing as a little kid when they shot that scene.

She should have done way much more but unfortunately in 1985 she sued her record company and was blackballed. By the time she won her lawsuit, other female artists ( Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson) emerged and took over the scene.
