Week in Santiago
« on: November 30, 2016, 02:42:01 PM »
Hey folks, I decided on a last minute trip to STI, approx a week stay.
Had  a few question regarding hotel.

Looking for a budget hotel, $40 USD or under, guest friendly.
Close to gym where I can get a week pass or something. (I'm a gym rat)
Sort of central, meaning I can walk around to restaurants, maybe a casa/whore house or two and not be dependent on taxis.

Also is public transport OK in Santiago getting from the airport how should I expect to pay $20-30 USD for a 3 mile ride?

Thanks-  apologies if this is already covered, the search is a bit weird.

Try hotel ambar there is a supermarket a club and a gym al next to the hotel. But santiago is not sosua u gonna need to hop a concho  or taxi to get to the other places... They all scattered around... There is plenty of info about dantiago on this site my friend.. Search for...  the reconnaissance trip 1..  in the trip reports section i have detailed info about ambar in the report.. Good luck

600 to 800($18) Pesos for the Taxi ride from the Airport is what I normally pay for the taxi guys that are on stand-by.

Thank you gents.

torso8, one hell of a report my friend!

However I think the statement "Santiago is not Sosua"  has made me rethink my options.  I will head to POP instead.  It is a different of $160 to STI or $250 to POP.   This is a quick trip to blow of some steam and clear my head so to speak so I don't need the extra hassles.

So since you're heading to POP instead of STI, I'm assuming you'll be staying in Sosua?

If so, I'm not familiar with any particular $40 hotels, but I do know Sosua has plenty of $40 ABnBs.  Just go to the app and search the strip area...$40 and below spots will pop up.

And there's also a gym within walking distance (same building as Coral Reef Casino, I think) right next to the beach.
