Punts Cana is also a direct flight from various European countries…… so during covid makes sense to avoid transiting…. Then is it better to have a second rate Punta Cana experience or waste a couple of days to and fro Sosua
That's my take. Sosua is a better set up but I can get a direct flight to Punta Cana from Atlanta. So for 4-5 day trips, Sosua is a no go for me because I have to eat a day both ways traveling. So it is either Punta Cana or Santo Domingo on short strips. I usually work Sosua into longer trips. If a dude is looking for beach and hookers, Punta Cana/Bavaro area works fine. Not as easy to navigate but a good time can be had.
