What’s your take? With the newly introduced changes is the mayor of Cartagena reacting to the influx of black American tourists or just the prostitution scene in general near the clock tower?

the latter and he's reacting to majority black (but white and other races as well) being loud about it and show-boating on social media, I also wouldn't be surprised if like someone else said it's somehow effecting his term's pockets.

A little of both but mostly the latter.  We make great scapegoats because we are extra.  However, I think the move is largely about moving the sex trade outside of the wall city because there is so much money at stake.  There is a lot of money going in and has gone into the side of the wall city in La Serrezuela and it, along with quite a few high end boutique shops and hotels, is catering to a very well to do tourist that visits Cartegena.

El Reloj (the clock tower) is the historical cornerstone of the old city and as they keep building around it they are looking to clean it up.  Ideally, they are just going to go after the clock tower chicks and leave places like LDV and Space alone because when there is discretion there is no way to know what those spot are about.  Most of those chicks can move inside.

That said, they always seem to want to "clean up" when the brothers become a significant part of the monger demographic.

The key word here is discretion and from social media it is predominantly the brothers that do not have it, sorry to say.

Prostitution is illegal in South East Asia, Africa and Europe yet it still happens. Like said by others, it won’t have any major impact on its movement in Colombia as a lot of Latin American countries have prostitution. They have some 6 figure properties and condos being built maybe 20-35 minutes away from the beaches, so it’s similar to how Sosua wanted to do the clean up, Cartagena has a similar incentive. It used to be hookers standing directly outside the walls near the gates, bus terminal and dock/piers instead of purdy concentrating by the clock tower in 2017-2018.

The YouTubers actually likely led to them concentrating purely by the clubs and clock towers instead of being spread out. When it was spread out, there wasn’t much concern but you knew who was the obvious hookers standing around in cut up high waist shorts and a crop top 1-2am. The online filming community screws everything up clout chasing, a lot even do commentary without ever having visited
Cheaper ways to do things, doesn’t indicate quality, or lack of

Yea I cant stand the filming. What happens with that you get guys who make one trip and start a youtube channel talking like there an expert bringing more clowns to the scene. Blacks have this habit of doing things that have been done for years and then going online like they are doing something new. I see here in my Pattaya we are getting the black losers that would frequent Sosua BMT Travels Taylor made dreams and there online talking about how great Pattaya is bringing more blacks around filming every damn thing talking about this is a black man paradise like shut the f--k up.

I keep seeing people saying prostitution is dead in cartagena or is being killed. You can't kill it on a local level in a country that big. Prostitution in Colombia is legal. You'd need a national policy change.

What's happening there is a new mayor got sworn in yesterday and he's flexing his muscles. Trying to will approval from the local who don't like prostitution. He's already closed the clubs Dolce Vita, Space , Delirium, all of them in the center. But from the wording of the closures it says they didn't meet requirements, like there's an avenue to reopen. He probably wants some kickback, under the table of course

So it looks like the mayor didn't close down the clubs directly for prostitution.  He told everyone and the media he closed them down cause they have prostitution going on, but prostitution is legal.  What he did is he found violations and things the clubs didn't have so he had them closed for that.  I'm sure the clubs will find ways to get the necessary permits they need or as with all politicians, they will have to grease some hands.  I think that's what the big picture is.

As a Colombia vet for 7 years Cartagena is different. It’s also the vacay spots to influential locals and their families. They don’t want the sex tourism. They want foreigners but not for sex tourism. Recently heard even the clubs aren’t letting girls in unless accompanied by men. This is the time of year when Colombians go there for their annual music festivals. The new mayor isn’t messing around.

Like in the DR, the goal is never to eliminate prostitution.  It IS legal and they want it that way.  However, what a lot dudes don't understand is that just because it is legal doesn't mean it is socially acceptable.  Like with crackdown in Sosua back in the days, it isn't about eliminating prostitution or making it illegal.  They want it to be less visible.  Unlike Sosua, the mongers aren't the big money in Cartagena so the politicians will have more political capital to restrict it or get rid of it all together from the walled city.  The locals don't rely on the places downtown for P4P.  Cartagena is a lot bigger than the beach and walled city.
