So true. Personally, I fuck up everywhere I go. Foolishly making mistakes in the hood, with police, eating shit made in unsanitary conditions..etc and I'm still here, and still doing the same fucklicious stuff that people warn you not to do. I say, Go and explore everywhere you have the desire to go and experience whatever is there. Fuck anyone that thinks you should limit yourself.
...I'm usually wrong...but that sh!t was great!

After reading this thread, Haitian girls are clearly more preferred than Dominican girls. Why not then go to Haiti???
in my case I don’t speak creole or French so it’s a barrier I’d dislike. I speak Spanish, can have a conversation and all. I can’t even do my numbers in creole, just say stuff like house and water. Make a few self deprecating jokes, due to lack of skills.

I’d need a guide and help. Googletranslate offline does work with Creole yet last I checked so it’s just discomfort and potential danger. I eventually will check it out but not for mongering. Prostitution isn’t legal there also, don’t want to risk a Haitian jail experience.
[/b]
You will not get arrested in Haiti because you’re mongering😂that is the very least of your worries!

Yep....getting mugged, kidnapped, stabbed or shot are far more probable than getting arrested....

o stop. ya'll act like these places have assassins waiting to take ya life. half u folks got nothing worth stabbing , shooting , or mugging u over lol....

plenty youtube videos of ppl going to places the masses dub "scary" or "dangerous" there is risk any and everywhere.

funny, white folks go wherever the hell they want fearlessly.....but brothers always scared of some shit. no one gonna kill u once u step out ya door.

travel free , educate ya self and watch ya six and 90% of the time your good.

Exactly! White Europeans been mongering in Haiti for years and years without any fear.

Been to Haiti, not worth the effort.  And that level poverty is soul crushing.  Granted I went on a humanitarian trip not mongering.  We could only do so much and unlike building a school in rural  Costa Rica and setting up a soccer training center in rural Mexico or bringing potable water to rural Peru, we were way over our heads in Haiti.  That shit was sad.

Kidnapped...maybe but the rest is as likely as it could happen in Chicago. Police will fleece you out of money in Haiti if you’re caught breaking the law but believe me when I tell you, they don’t even come close to Dominicans when it comes to hustling your pockets.

Say it louder...there are so many white people living in Haiti, I started thinking about moving back. Haitians are extremely nice to foreigners, to a fault if you ask me.

I see y’all know little about Haiti and or never been there.

They don’t rob n kill their oppressors, bc they are their saviors unfortunately.
They’ll rob TF outta me n you tho. Don’t let them find out you Haitian American ....and traveling loosely without some sort of connection/ OG / local ...

They’ll rob or kidnap you If need be and force a ransom bc they know we got it.

I’m Haitian American and I wouldn’t go to Haiti alone like I do DR. I would not move how I move in DR , in Haiti !!

No Can Do.

The US / France / UN etc purposely destabilized Haiti so the 1804 Haiti could never return

That is your choice. I’m actually just Haitian😂 born and raised. I am one of those educated immigrants someone else on this board is fearful of😂(side note)

I agree to some level with foreign manipulation of Haitian politics and financing destabilization.

Is it possible that one may get kidnapped in Haiti, yes and it will very likely be someone you know who set you up.
I go at least 4 times/year.

I wouldn’t recommend one to venture out to the capital solo for the same reason I’d say 75% of people on this board shouldn’t step away from Sosua with their current mentality

Trust me most times it ain’t the locals that want to target tourists, some of y’all make it really hard for local hustlers to ignore you while in their country.

I really reject the idea that Haitians would target Haitian Americans or AAs just for the simple fact that they’re a black “foreigner”.

Is it worth it to monger in Haiti, well it depends on you and how comfortable you can be being uncomfortable. Haitians as a whole are more conservative than Dominicans so a town like Sosua couldn’t exist in Haiti, yet.

Apart from the language barrier, if one can be comfortable traveling through the DR not just the SU strip could go to Cape Haitian and have a blast.

A lot of it is perception.  The homicide rate is actually lower than in the DR.  And significantly lower than Jamaica.

Is there a crisis in Venezuela??? Hell yes!!! A major crisis?? There was a mongering scene in Venezuela before Maduro took over and fucked it up. And when the crisis is over, I’ll be the first to to venture there. Is there a crisis in Haiti?? No. White Europeans have been mongering there for years.
Comparing Haiti to Venezuela is like comparing a little rain shower to a monsoon.

I get it.  I am from Jamaica and went down to Mobay in September and one my friends drove me to the airport on her way to work and dropping her daughter to tennis practice and we pulled up to a parking lot to wait for her friend and we see a pair of flip flops in parking lot.  Turns out dudes came by and shot up the curfew breaking place and killed 9 people and those flip flops belong to someone trying to flee.

My boy is a cousin of Sweet Micky.  He quit his job and went with a mission to help the poor after Micky became President of Haiti.  Lost touch with him not sure how that went down.  Probably got paid.

Interesting discussion.  Good point about how America and France played a hand in purposely destabilizing Haiti in the early 19th century.  That's why you see what you see today-- extreme poverty.  Also, throw in the fact that Haiti still owes France money stemming from the 1804 uprising.

Speaking of the exploratory nature of white travelers, versus that of, or a lack thereof, black travelers, often times, white and black travelers aren't treated the same.  For the longest time, I wasn't interested in traveling, because I held the idea of why would I spend my money to travel only to be disrespected?  I can get that at home, for free.  Looking back, that was a silly idea to hold, but I understand why some black travelers feel that way.

I've never been to Haiti, so I don't know if the same applies there.  I will assume that it does.

In another life, I was astonished by how white dudes could run around the Horn of Africa and not get as much as a scratch (well, excluding a downed Blackhawk helicopter), but my black ass wouldn't survive five minutes outside the compound.  Weird...

On the whole for me, I feel like Dominicans will give you favor but Haitians will work for your favor.  It's fun being with Dominicans and Haitians make it fun to be with them. I get a nutt with Dominicans, but Haitians make me nutt! Haitians make it an easy choice when I want guaranteed fun, morning, noon, or night.
