I was reflecting a post I did recently in another topic.   The issue was about chicas.   Related to quality, and how a lot of us mongers view these chicks in Sosua these days.   One of the things Im realizing is that Sosua does have a a lot of very attractive women that come to work.   Enough to handle the mongers that come looking for a good time.

When the discussion comes up about the lack of talent, and that quality has gone down,  we are not necessarily talking about looks or physical appearance.    Although it appears that way.    Sometimes we fall short in identifying our real concerns.

What I think we are really observing as far as talent and quality, is that many of the chicas coming to Sosua are not sweet.  Not feminine.   Not attractive in terms of the way they carry themselves.

Add in, No class. Un appreciative.  Im the shit attitude.  Some you look at, and they honestly look like they'll steal shit from you if given the opportunity.  Surely at any given time, Sosua can provide the average monger women that are physically appealing.   But the real issue is, many of these women dont make a good impression in terms of how they represent themselves as women.

A lot of these women are mothers,  and I know deep down some of us actually feel sorry for the children that belong to these women.   i look at them, and I cant see anything about them that demonstrates that they can run a household, cook nutritious meals for their families, or handle a household budget.

And I think people sometimes forget men actually are human and have feelings, even as mongers.   In our mongered state, we overlook the flaws of the females,  but may not realize the impact it has on how we relate to them in order to get that physical thing going.

Many men need to be stimulated and aroused mentally as well as physically,  to get in the mood just as much as a woman.   I have to admit, there have been times where I had a new chick over I thought I was very attracted to,  and I ( my body ) lost interest after being around her long enough.

I remember there were times when you encountered very sweet girls even in Sosua.   These days,  people are focused on chicas inflated prices.   Thats a side issue.  We focus on price, because we really dont value whats standing in front of us.    We tolerate whats available to us.   What I think many mongers want or would like, is sweet,  feminine, affectionate women.   Of course it would be helpful if they can fuck/suck, and for you big muggs, take some dick.  What ever happened to the women that make Viagra and Mambo 36 almost unnecessary?  <-------- For us older cats!  LOL

And please dont tell me the sweet, feminine and affectionate chicks are in the clubs now.   Those are just prettier pigs with nicer clothes and makeup.
Sir No shit about these chicas running a lousy household,, There always begging exsta food to take home,, too lazy to cook,,,  some tend to stay up all night till 4 am listening to music,,,  Wont pay the electric bill  lights get shut off ect,, Sure they might give a good BJ but there House Manners are Horrid !!

In Puerto Plata a chica took me up in the hills to a place with fountains/wading pools, music, beer/rum garden. They had gambling with dice but also raffles. I gave her 50 pesos to enter a raffle without knowing what it was for.

We won two live chickens. The guy selling tickets came holding one live chicken in each hand by the feet. My chica found a big empty rice sack and put them in there for the taxi ride back to the city. She had no idea why I thought it was funny to win two live chickens and take them home in a taxi.

Damn!  I know I'm a citified mofo.   I wouldnt know what to do with live chickens.  LOL   Apparently it was no thang to her.   I'll bet every adult in her household was beaming when they saw them chickens.

I learned that you have to be extra watchful at certain bars/restaurants in Sosua.   There are two or 3 in particular that had a couple of employees there that were ripping off customers on the regular, and from my observation some were probably ripping off the establishment.

Here are the particulars :

1. You order food and drink.  When it's time to pay you get a bill for the food, but no bill for the drinks, they just quote you on how much to pay.  Used to always get one bill for both, or at least two separate bills.  I recall one instance where I got no bill at all, just a quote of what to pay. IMO, the employees that did that were ripping off the establishment?   After a week an employee can add a nice supplement to their salary.

2. You and/or your party order food/drink.  You get the bill and the bill shows each persons order with a wrong item that costs more than what you ordered.  They are trying to to get you to pay for the more expensive item,  then change the order back at the register.  They can keep the difference.

3. Classic move.  Your bill has extra items you didnt order, or extra drinks you never drunk.

4. You get a bill where the math is all fucked up, usually in their favor.   You get attitude and an insincere apology for busting them trying to over charge you.

5. You pay the bill, the server never comes back with your change, and virtually disappears from sight.   Or they drop off your incorrect change and disappears from sight.  Same thing , you get attitude just because you actually want your change & it being correct.

I often wondered how do owners, especially foreigners keep abreast of their employees to make sure they are not doing any of these things?   They have to know these things are going on.   It's common in the DR.   There were times I wanted to speak up and tell an owner my experience, but where are we?  The Dominican Republic.   Im thinking perhaps they make allowances for acceptable losses.

Reporting incidents is common sense, but when you are in the DR, the response you may get may be totally different than what you would expect back home.  Mostly one of indifference.   As if it's the customers duty to make sure they dont get ripped off,  not the owners duty to make sure they dont have any thieving employees.

Not to mention, if the owner confronts the employee,  they may confirm the complaint by telling the employee which customer complained, and now you have an enemy on your hands , meanwhile the employee is still working there.

Thats usually the kind of thing that happens up in hotels when a customer complains of theft.   You are almost regarded as a complainer and not believed.   And in enough cases, they really dont want any responsibility for your losses.   It may take a while before the place finally fires an employee that was stealing from the place all along.   That individual has to be cold busted before they get fired.

I can see how an owner may develop a certain indifference to customers potentially getting ripped off by their employees.   Because whatever the employee is doing is their way of supplementing their income.  Income the owner doesnt have to pay.   So it may become a case of customer vs employee,  not the customer vs the establishment.   Hey buddy this is the DR, you know what you have to do, you have to protect yourself at all times.   Maybe you drunk too much and you are confused?

Transportation and your friendly Tour Guide

Learned you have to get details straight before you make assumptions.

A few years ago I was booked at the Jaguar Apart Hotel in Santo Domingo.   Through email the owner asked me if I needed transportation from SDQ to the hotel.  He said his service was complimentary.
I said yes.  And he set me up with a driver to come pick me up.    I'm feeling good about this.   What a great service.

I get to the hotel, and the driver hits me with a $45 charge.   As far as I was concerned he was dead wrong and overcharging for a ride from the airport.  And Im going to straighten that shit out inside with the hotel.

I talked to the manager and he tells me, arranging for a taxi to pick you up at the airport is complimentary, not the fare for the ride.   Right then and there, I realized I was bamboozled.  And thats how his taxi and him make a little money off of unsuspecting guests.  The icing on the cake was the manager scolding me saying "where in the world you think you are going to get a taxi for free and not pay the fare?"    I shot back at him.   "Why the hell would I need you to arrange a taxi to come get me, when there's taxis everywhere at the airport?" "Further, you both got me this time"  "That was slick asking me if I need a taxi, and telling me arranging one is complimentary, I'll be sure to share your business practices with others"

What I learned.  Dont assume what you think you heard.  Ask specific questions.  Your service is complimentary, but do I still have to pay for the taxi, tolls etc?

Next, I should have never got in the taxi until I knew what the fare was.  Any taxi.    I should have asked the taxi driver upfront how much is the fare to the hotel?     Once he tells me there is a cost, I could easily abort right there, and see they were trying to get over on my ignorance.   Mind you, this can happen worldwide, not just in the DR.

The Friendly Tour Guide

Some of us have at least one.   He's a great guy.   Seems like he will go out of his way for you.  However there can be a dark side.   The type that will never give you a direct quote to a destination.

Instead he is your friend.  Tells you not to worry.  It wont be much.   Now while on the way,  it's apparent you may need to make stops to get a few things.   This is how your friendly tour guide makes his money.   By not giving his client a firm quote for the final destination and stops ,  he knows anything extra he does for his client is going to be compensated from his clients conscious, not the actual a la carte rate.

And that final cost a conscientious client pays may exceed the actual cost of services significantly.   Win/win for your FTG.

Even if you try to insist on a direct quote,  your FTG may ignore that and just tell you dont worry about it.  May even say, just give me money for gas.   After going that route in the past,  I found it best just to get a driver that can give me the price and I just pay it.   If I need stops,  I'll get a quote and pay that.
Of course that was a long time ago,  but hopefully relevant today for others?     Inquire, investigate, question, but dont assume.

An ADD On

You are at a restaurant.  You order a fish meal.

You enjoy, get the bill and find out the fish you ate cost more than you thought.  You thought it was 600 pesos.  Because that is what you saw on the menu.   But they tell you, the fish you ate was 1 1/2 or 2 pounds, they ran out of 1lb fish.

At 300 pesos a 1/2 pound,  they can tack on extra on your bill even if the fish you ate weighed less than whats on the bill.   If you dont specifically ask them the weight you want when you order,   1 lb, 1 1/2 lb or 2 lb the restaurant can scam you and serve a fish thats lets say 1 lb and claim they gave you a 1 1/2 fish.   Or 1 1/2lb fish, and charge you for a 2 lb fish.  300 to 600 pesos overcharge may not seem like much, but it means a lot to a local.

Once again they put the onus on the customer.  Who would have thought you would have to be on the lookout for this type of hustle?     Locals dont care if you dont come back.  Repeat business is not a priority.    As long as they got over this time, it's a win/win for them.   There will be another sucker to hustle eventually.

This happened to me at a restaurant that no longer exists.  But it was diagonally across from the Romanoff Hotel.   I think it was called Caprihana something like that, a dominican spot?    The same block Sosuas municipal bldg is on but near Alejo Martinez and Bologna restaurant.

If you fail to get details clear with locals in business, you leave yourself vulnerable to being scammed.   Many of us have a habit of taking things for granted.  Asking for something, and failing to ask what the price is.   We just assume it shouldnt be too much.   Worse is you find out after you used or consumed an item.  At that point it's too late.  And dont expect locals to warn you or pull your coat.   They are hoping that you dont ask.

Examples :

Getting a haircut or a massage.  Including extras
Chugging down a beverage or food item at the register, and finding out it cost 3 times what you thought it was.
Jumping in a taxi or on a moto and figuring you took the same ride before, the price should be the same.
Going to an all you can eat buffet, and finding out the soft drinks you ordered are not included.

I will always to go to these spots where I got finessed, but I'm gonna call them out for the bad behavior of the staff. I watch my bills now, but Ahnvee staff are quick with the no bill, written bill and extra items on the bill. If you at Ahnvee, watch your bill closely and only accept the printed computer bill.  Next spot,  Tree House on the beach...Fish size portions and change back. How am I supposed to know how much the fish weighed after I eat it? Put sizes on the menu. When you get your change back, it should come with the receipt so you can see how much the bill was, how much you paid and how much the change is supposed to be. Stop robbing tourists!

On a roll today.  Thought of another one.

Guys often agree to pay for a chicas moto or taxi to a meet.   If it's important to you,  I find its a good idea to make sure the chica is aware of how much you are paying for the taxi or moto.   You may not want a situation where the driver pulls up and tells you the trip cost one price when you know he's over charging you.

Same with a moto.   Ive had chicas use a moto, then the driver claims the price is more than it usually cost.   And the chica stands there looking like a silly rabbit, instead of speaking up about it.    I tried to avoid that once.   I told the chica beforehand, make sure you get a moto for 50 pesos.  Im not paying any more than that.

Chica pulls up to my spot with a drink in hand.  I hand her the 50 pesos, she refused to take it.   Meanwhile the driver told me the price is 150 pesos.   Right at that moment,  I turned around and went back inside the gate to my complex.   Left her ass with her driver.    I didnt have a problem with the moto,  it was the chica.   I took that move as a sign of disrespect.   Of course there are other ways I can handle it.    I can take it out of their pay for services rendered.   But some things you may not let go, that mugg needed to be dismissed.

I'm assuming you lodged complaints directly with the staff fucking up?   But not necessarily the owners?    Did or do you have similar concerns as I, that you might not be taken seriously or there may be an air of indifference to your complaint if you go directly to the owners?

I always take it up with the offending staff member. I make them go back and get a printed receipt. And for the fish size switch, my complaint fell on deaf ears. If I have to complain, there's no tip.

I'd like to add.  It goes back to what I was saying all along.   We cant rely on them to protect our interests.   We have to use these incidents to learn from them, and devise a way to circumvent getting got.

That may mean,  telling them exactly what you want.  So if they bring you something other than you asked for,  you aint expected to pay for it.   But if you say nothing, you leave yourself open to anything.  And the misunderstanding will always appear as if it's your fault.

Let me get a 1lb fish please.   Let me see it before you cook it.   How much is that cooked?   Okay, bring it.    Sad extra steps have to be taken, but thats the environment were dealing with.

Yesterday, Friday, my buddy met a cute chick out of a group of chicas.   Exchanged whatsapp.  Later, he negotiated a TLN with her for 4000.   Chick showed up at 11:30pm.   Buddy said the juice was good.  Nice and wet juice box.  What could go wrong?

About 2ish in the morning, messages started coming in to her phone.  Any monger whose been in the game awhile knows whats about to go down next.   Operation Bailout.  Sponsored by the Chica Network.   Buddy said the chica is all over her phone.  Back and forth messaging.   Now she has to break it to him, that she has to go because it's urgent.  Remember me saying I dont want to hear no explanations, no excuses or reasons from these chicas.  Keep your trap closed, I dont need to listen to the bullshit.

Anyway, she tells him whatever, and he says ok.   She gets dressed and then he gives her 2000 pesos.  You know what she wants right?   She wants the whole 4000.  My buddy said she even started pleading about needing the money for her baby.    He insisted that he's only giving her 1/2 because she didnt stay all night as agreed.

Chica aint done yet.  Chica says, please pay me the 4000 and I'll come back tomorrow and be with you.  My buddy counters.  No,  I'll give you the 2000, and you can come back tomorrow and I'll give you 2000 then.

Makes sense to me.   It's not what she wanted to hear.   She had no choice,  she gave in.

What went down was a situation where this young chica was taught this strategy.   Now because she is not a regular to Sosua,  she was not seasoned enough to take it further where she could get the police involved.   In fact, that is something me and a few guys have discussed recently.   The fact that we havent heard any recent stories of chicas trying to extort a client with the help of the police.

And I have to say given the fact that there are a lot of chicas in Sosua at this very moment,  they arent that connected with the cops like that to pull that off.   They may very well fear all police based on what theyve been taught through the Chica Network, and observed by the cops still in chase mode.   Including the PN  officers.     A lot of new chicas are in town.  They may not be comfortable taking aggressive steps  especially in these hotels with security.

So I just wanted to put that incident out there.  Here's a situation where the guy wanted a chica for all night, she agrees to it,  but in typical fashion she flipped the script so she could get out of it.   At 2ish in the morning,  there are plenty of potential clients to bamboozle next.

Now here's the kicker.   That chica IMO did him a solid.   He didnt need her all night.  That one good session was really all he needed.  We even discussed the fact,  that hiring her all night may have been a bad idea in the 1st place, because he never hired her before.     In fact it maybe a good idea to hire a chick for only a ST, and then discern later if it's worth having her stay longer.

After the 1st session thats when Operation Bailout commenced.  And why would you wanna keep a chick all night who really doesnt want to be there?  Not to mention the morning session could be bad or non existent.   A chica can let a guy hire her,  give one good performance initially, and dont perform later, but then you have to pay.   So he got off easy.

I had an incident where I pulled a nice haitian from Rumbas and we decided to take a moto back to the Victoria House.  She pointed at one guy and said there is my friend, so I handed hm 50pesos and then grabbed another moto guy for 50 pesos.  We taek off and head to teh hotel.

Once we got to around New Garden, the other moto guy roars up next my guy and starts yelling real loud and aggressive that 50 pesos wasnt enough and that I needed to pay him 100 pesos.  He kept saying "What am i going to do with 50 pesos?  You have to pay me 100 pesos!"  I just looked at her and said "I thought he is your friend.  He knows the price is 50 pesos".  She just shrugged her shoulders and didnt say anything.

After a couple of blocks of this idiot yelling at me, my moto guy turns toward and me and says the guy is "Mafioso" and I should be careful.  I told him that "Mr Mafioso" will get ktfo if he tries anything stupid once we get to the hotel.

Once we pull up in front of VH, the big mouth didn't get off his bike but he kept insisting that I needed to pay him more.  I just got off my bike and strolled into the hotel while flashing the peace sign at him.  The chica stood there for like 5 seconds like she didn't know what to do, but then I heard her heels clacking as she ran after me into the lobby.
